Sentara Careplex Hospital (COE) Hospital
The hospital was understaffed, or that is how it appeared. Simple requests were either ignored or had to be made many times before anyone responded. I was glad my husband stayed with me during the night. Requests for ice chips were ignored most of the time, sometimes hours later someone would come by and ask if I needed anything - then never return. My IVs were allowed to go dry on several occasions, then blood would back up into the tubing. Usually there was no problem taking care of this when the IV bag was changed. On one occasion, the night nurse, using saline to clean the tubing, tried to hurry the process and shot saline directly into the vein. I screamed and began to cry - imagine, salt directly into your vein. Didn't seem to bother the nurse.
