Saint Clare's Health System (COE) Hospital
The hospital staff was excellent. However, I was put into a room with a Non WLS patient - and this was very rough, as the hospital staff kept coming in to check on my as I have diabetes. Also, after surgery I was very hot, and the person whom I roomed with was always cold and they kept the room temperature at 70 degrees, which was too hot for me. They should try to keep all WLS patients together.
To all the nurses and staff from start of pre-admissions, to the lab, nurses in pre-op waiting area, the anstheiologist, the OR nursing staff, and of course Dr Abkin were most attentive to my needs, me! They made me feel like I was the only priority they had. Post-op Nurses and staff were wonderful, and were there as soon as you needed them. They attended to all your cares and were very supportive. The staff and nurses were all educated on the surgery as well as the pre and post operative care. Paperwork is coordinated by his office staff so on your day of discharge it goes very smooth, which helps you to feel more at ease so you can go home and get started with your new life.
Same Day surgery staff/nurses were excellent. Could not ask for more.
Hospital was clean- Exray staff could have used more common sense getting an x-ray from a patient right out of surgery- Stand up, lay down, roll over and wait on a cold hard table for 45 min. Then when looking for my ice pack, was advise I was sitting on it and offered no assistance.
Pre-op and check in was smooth. The staff was wonderful, and the care was wonderful also. I especially liked that even though I was getting antsy and ready to leave, my nurse very strongly suggested that I wait until my pain scale had gone down a significant amount before allowing me to leave. Looking back on it I realize now that it would have been a big mistake to leave when I first thought I was ready!
