Sacred Heart Medical Center Hospital
I was not really impressed with this hospital. The nurses kept coming in to play my musical bear all night long and I left the hospital with Ringworm from the compression socks they had on my legs. My PCP told me today to be glad that is all I got because alot of people leave hospitals with staff infections. I honestly believe that this hospital would have rated higher but my stay there was at the same time that this hospital was doing a hugh layoff. The nurses were friendly and prompt with pain medication but not very well informed on what my needs were. My assigned nurse and aide were fine but when one of the others came in they had to be reminded that I couldn't have sugar in anything.
I thought the hospital handled things well, and the staff were wonderful. I have only two complaints: 1) I rang for a nurse for some pain meds on my third day, and it took over 30 minutes to get a response; 2) I rang for a nurse while in the bathroom and didn't get a response at all. I cancelled the request and just dealt with my problem on my own. Otherwise, everything was fine. There were a couple of nurses that were OUTSTANDING, and the rest were average.
I had a couple of negative experiences. When I came to my room I was still pretty well out of it. A nurse explained the pain pump and call button while I was not "with it " enough to understand. This caused problems later. I also struggled because the day I felt the worst my roommate literally had visitors from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. - including young toddlers who squealed and screeched and big, burly men who boomed out obscenities. It was a horrible day.
