Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center Hospital
My surgeon was great. His support person was fantastic and held support group meetings. His surgical competence is amazing. Didn't really talk to him much though. I stopped taking advantage of the support groups and was embarrassed to go back. There hasn't been any follow up from the office. Easy to just disappear.
All in all I would recommend them. I feel very confident in their ability to perform the surgery.
The first time I met Dr. Quilici was in the Century City office. He was calming, supportive, encouraging, and positive. I have subsequently seen him in the Burbank office. The staff there is WONDERFUL. My only negative comment is that so many people are booked at the same time that you often have to wait. Once you are seen it seems a bit rushed. I am very happy that I chose this group for my surgery. I have seen Dr. Tovar a couple of times and he is charming and very professional.
I think when it comes to deciding who should have surgery I think it should be up to the surgeon to decide. Dr Quilici said he would do it in about 7 weeks instead some person at the insurance company said I have to wait six months.
Dr Quilici is wonderful, he knows his buisness and his office staff is amazing! So loving and sensitive to the needs of their patients. I am very confident in Dr Quilici's ability to do my surgery and for my post op to be as successful as my pre op
He is a very professional doctor, warm & carring made me feel very good about the choice I made.
Dr. Quilici's staff is wonderful very friendly and helpful.
I don't think there is anything negative about him that I have found or heard. I have talked to a lot of people that have had him as their surgeon.
Dr. Quilici is a fantastic surgeon.
There is a structure after care.
I was in a very small room where the air conditioning did not work. I had to have a fan put in the room so I wouldn't suffocate! The hospital bed was extremely uncomfortable and old. The equipment for TV/Call Nurse, etc. seemed like it was from the 60's.
Most of the nursing staff was wonderful except for the occasional delay in bringing meds and giving me information. The aides were also good.
the hospital was fine with letting my family stay with me overnite even tho they took up the entire room (all extra 10 square feet of it).
He seemed very competent. When he was meeting me he was there with me, not having his mind elsewhere, and took time to answer all my questions. I feel very comfortable with him. His staff is a bit scattered. They are apparently moving offices and changing personnel. Some of my questions and what they needed from me and my PCP got lost in the shuffle but not for long. I really like how the doctor made sure that all of my questions were answered before he left for another appointment. He definitely addressed the risks of surgery as I specifically asked. There is an aftercare program in place. I would, as of yet, rate him very high because he seems to be competent and have a good bedside manner. He has a very good reputation. I have another meeting with him and his staff before my surgery so I will see what other impressions I get and what else I learn about things.
UPDATE: After surgery I saw him in the hallway for literally 30 seconds. He didn't come in until about 1:30 in the afternoon. This was a saturday but I still didn't get the opportunity to ask him anything. This is the only time I saw or spoke with him. I would recommend NOT having surgery on a friday. The staff was surprised I had my surgery on a friday which didn't help! Anyhow, they are usually done on monday or tuesday so request this because there is a skeleton crew on the weekends and you get very little communication! The doctors have a life too I suppose.
I found Dr. Quilici, although rather reserved, very businesslike and informative at our first consult. I do not necessarily seek out "warm and fuzzy" in a doctor. I feel much more confident with someone who is more concerned about imparting all pertinent information to make an informed decision. When he came to see me right before surgery, his reassurance was just what I needed.
His staff and support, understandably busy, are caring and efficient. They seem to go a step beyond with a personal touch. The aftercare provided I believe is the essential part to the success of his clients. I would give Dr. Quilici the highest rating - my surgery and initial recovery has been remarkably easy a testament to his skills and experience.
My first impression of Dr. Quilici was that he is very kind, caring, and respectful. During our consult, his cell phone rang. He asked me if I would mind if he answered the call (wow!) and when I told him I didn't mind, he apologized profusely for having to take it and thanked me for allowing him to do so. When he was through with the call, he felt he had to explain himself (sweet) and told me it was the hospital asking him to ok a release of one of his pts. He then apologized again for interrupting the consult, and again thanked me for letting him take the call. He is extremely polite and has a gentle nature. He made sure I was comfortable w/the info he was giving me. He was very thorough. He's got a very extensive after care program. You must agree to go support group after surgery (run by a registered dietician, Sally, who's terrific!!). I met with her for 45 mins on the day of my consult. WOW!! She is extremely thorough and provides excellent visual aides. As far as pre-op goes, I rate Dr. Quilici a 10 of 10. Since I haven't had surgery yet, I'll come back here post-op w/an update.
My first meeting with Dr. Quilici was a little rushed because he was soooo busy. I spent 1 1/2 hrs with Sally, the nutrionist/coordinator tho. My impression was that he was efficient and competent. I'll update more after my second mtg with him.
