Park Plaza Hospital Hospital
Most of the nurses at Park Plaza Hospital were lazy and provided the bare minimum...timely pain meds. At least that was good. 5 of the 6 respiratory therpists who gave me nebulizer treatments (to keep my asthma at bay) didn't even bother to put a stethiscope to me. One even had the nerve to ask me to shut off the air pump on the wall behind the bed when it was finished - obviously didn't want to wait around while I was taking my treatment. Ok, let me just call the nurses pver to help me out of bed so I can finish YOUR job. The kitchen is clueless about bariatric needs. My surgeon's office told me they have had many problems with this. My first meal was a chicken cutlet with mash potatoes. I had to inform THEM what I needed. Upon asking, they don't even have a tray code "bariatric meal." The only had "clear liquids" (which included sugary juices and posicles) and "diabetic" (which included solid food with a minimum of carbs.) After complaining, they sent the kitchen manager up to talk to me. I had to educate him about all this. This is unacceptable considering their web-site touts the hospital as a bariatric center. No bari beds available unless ordered in advance by your doc as they aren't stored on the premesis. A couple of the nurses were helpful and proactive about helping with needs like getting me toothpaste, or offering to change my bedding. Most were lazy and couldn't be bothered. (I was asked to use the urinal which I stopped using at was overflowing after being ignored for 2 days. Obviously they weren't measuring my output.
