Dr. Hausmann was wonderful. I really trusted his experience and his ability. He has an excellent reputation, which is why I chose him. He made me have more tests than many surgeons require, but this goes along well with his reputation of being very meticulous and thorough. I would prefer a surgeon who is very careful, and this was him. There were concerns that I may not have been able to have surgery at all, and he did everything he could (including repeating a test that seemed to have unusual results) to help me out. When we first began, I was interested in the band, and he seemed to prefer the sleeve as an option, but also seemed that he would respect my wishes. Eventually, we decided together (after much research on my part) that the sleeve would be the best option. Dr. Hausmann was very clear about the risks of surgery, and didn't minimize them. He has excellent bedside manner, and I feel like he was 100% the best option for me.

All of my nurses were great, with the exception of my recovery room nurse. She was relatively insensitive and seemed that I was bothering her. And while this may just be me, I don't like being talked about like I'm not present.

I like Dr. Leblanc, he is very straight forward and honest. He allows me to ask as many questions as I need. His staff is better than most. Amy is great.

He was very breef seemed very busy. We talked about the surgery and other medical issues but the one good thing I got out of it was a surgery date. I was told that my Insurance didn't require pre auth and that I could sechedule a date ASAP. Thanks DOC

Dr. Hausmann was great and reassuring and supportive and he still is. He seems even more interested even though I am 11 months post op. His staff is great and wonderful. I love the support group that Dr. Hausmann, his partners and their staff have for WLS patients. They don't just forget about, they provide the support. And boy are they patient. I would rate him a 15 on a 1 -10 scale. Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are great and so is his aftercare.

I met Dr Schauer initially in November 2007 at an orientation session at Cleveland Clinic. He is kind, knowledgeable, realistic, respectful, and patient.rnrnOffice staff are all wonderful and more than two have already been through this process with him as thier surgeon.rn rnFuture patients should know he is realistic, not a bulshitter, and has you best interest in mind.rnrnHe emphsizes the after even before he spoke of the surgery and his staff emphassized that as well.rnrnThey have a structured program from the first call, pre surgery, post surgery and beyondrnrnDr Schuar was very candid about risks of surgery and how important following pre and post op instructions were in assisting with the least amount of complications.rnrnI rate him a 10 at this time. 12/07. and 2/08, and 4/08rnrnI had surgery on March 26th 2008. Dr Schauer continued to be top notch and even right before surgery he reassured me he would be there, he let me know there was a chance the surgery may have to be done open but the goal was to keep it laproscopic, and generally made me feel much better all around. rnrnDespite all of that he had remained open and realistic. That is something I commend.rnrnHe has a great bedside manner and explains things clearly. He also introduced me to the surgeon that would be assisting him who also had an excellent bedside manner.rnrnI cannot say rnough good things about him and his surgical support staff.rnrnIt is now 6/28/08 I still rate Dr. Chauer as a 10! rnrnHe saved my life, plain and simple. I am eternally grateful.rnrnIt is now 6-19-09 and I have not changed my mind about Dr Schauer. He is wonderful and has great bedsie manner and even was OK with me huggin him to thank him, not that i gave him much of a choice:)

After a few minutes with Dr. LeBlanc, I felt very comfortable that everything would be fine and I had a top-notch expert. He has a funny quarkiness that makes him seem like he's existing in his own little biosphere -- nothing matters but his craft and his patients' health. My husband and I chuckled how colors in the room didn't seem to match and the meeting room seemed like a lot of thought haven't gone into decorating. rn
rnDr. LeBlanc was a lot like that room -- focused without a lot of snotty, useless decorations and attitudes. I could tell from the manner he explained the procedure that he had a teacher's zeal (and knowledge) of bariatric surgery. And being a teacher, he was a master.rn
rnHis self-less nature was best demonstrated when he expressed concern that I also get a hernia repaired. He told me that the hernia could cause problems and then said \"I do that.\"rn
rn\"I do that?\"rn
rnThat statement sounded like what the 'handyman guy' says about detailing cars: \"I do that.\"rn
rnLater, while researching the doctors and procedures, I found it hard to find anything (but here at obesityhelp.com) about Karl LeBlanc, the bariatric surgeon. Instead, I found tons of information about Karl Leblanc, the world renowned (really) hernia repair specialist. On two UK sites, I even read reviews of one of his two books on less-invasive hernia repair. His description of all that: \"I do that.\"rn
rnI immediately told my husband that I thought it was Divine Intervention that I would be sent to a bariatric surgeon who was also a hernia specialist.rn
rnDr. LeBlanc took an interest in my unique problems and needs, but also refused to push me into having the surgery when I expressed a 'wait and see attitude' about it. rn
rnHis staff is the perfect combination of professionalism and supportive. The office staff made me feel comfortable even when I was trying hard not to like them. Being both obese and egotisical, I'm always watching like a hawk for medical professionals who speak down to me or treat me like I have a mental defect. They did neither. When I couldn't fight it any more, I decided I just had to love them for all the support and information they gave to me. I applaud Amy, Genie and any others who helped make this as smooth as possible.rn
rnUpdate 2009: After six years, I've become a constant figure at the practice. Dr. LeBlanc has been a mentor, a confident, a business associate and a awesome friend. I was revised to the Sleeve May 26, 2009 and I'm seeing awesome results.rn
I am also the marketing and communications representative for Dr. LeBlanc's practice. I love my work and I love the awesome folks I work with. I am richly blessed!

I was a little taken back at the first meeting with Dr. Schauer. I had my mind set on Lap Band and after he looked over my chart and records he suggested RNY. I was not prepared to discuss this procedure and all the questions I had were for Lap Band. I think he knew I was little taken back at his suggestion. I was given a week to think about it and decide what I wanted to do. I spoke with a good friend on OH and was told to just stand my ground and go with my first choice. I did go with my first choice, the lap Band. The second meeting I had with Dr. Schauer was to discuss the procedure, the risk and outcome. I have found Dr. Schauer to be a very confident and excellent surgeon. I feel that the post op and follow up care is very well constructed and geared towards helping the patient reach all their weight loss goals. I would highly recommend Dr. Schauer to anyone that is looking into any weight loss procedure.

I haven't met with Dr. Schauer yet, but I did want to comment on Cleveland Clinic and the process that I have completed to this date. rnrnThe staff has been wonderful, the WLS seminar was the best that I have ever attended. The pre-op testing was made for all in one day visit. Which I thought was awsome. When I actually meet with Dr. Schauer, I will update.
