Dr. Philip Schauer - My PCP did a lot of research for another patient and found that Dr. Schauer was one of the best in the country - and one of the few who did the surgery laproscopically, which was important to me for the short recovery time. I liked him well enough. He had performed about 300 surgeries prior to me which was probably most important. His office staff was fine. He is VERY thorough in terms of pre-testing. I had to have many tests done that others have not - and I was pretty healthy prior. I don't know much about his aftercare because I am just one month post op. I have already had two appointments with him and the third is this week. A few days before my surgery was scheduled he asked if I wanted to move it up two days and have about 25 other doctors watching the procedure. I decided that 26 sets of drs. eyes would be better than just 1 so I agreed. The surgery went off with a hitch, no complications so far.

I had surgery with Dr. Schauer in Pittsburgh, He is fantastic as well as his staff. Very much a leader in RNY surgery =performed over 350. Aftercare has been great, they are available 24/7 with careful follow up. I would recommend highly. Compassionate and understands obesity.
