Ohio State University Medical Center Hospital
Dr. Needleman is great...although I've only
met him once. He was kind, patient and
gentle. He was way behind on appointments
because he takes as much time as he needs
with each one and does not rush. That is
rare these days, and I for one appreciated it
His staff was nice also.
He told me everything I needed to know,
allowed me to ask anything I wanted to.
But, anyone going there initially should know
that you will more than likely spend a
substantial amount of time there. My
appointment was at 11:30, I was seen by him
at 2:30 and left the office at 3:45, after
my blood work.
He made me feel comfortable. I feel like he
genuinely cares.
My first Impression of Dr. Needleman was " hmmmm he is very confident" and after talking with him I realized he knows that I am a person with feelings, he doesn't have the "GOD" syndrome. the most important thing to him is just being alive. He was very informative and answered all of my questions in great detail. He was great!
First impression was "He's so young!" and "Easy on the eyes!"
After discussing the details of my surgery I felt that he was very competent and skilled to preform the open RNY that had been planned.
Nothing.
You can't make an appointment with him directly. You have to go through OSU Comprhensive Weight Loss Management Program.
After care is greatly emphasized. I will have followup appointments with both my physician and a dieticien for the next 18 months. Yes, the after care program is structured.
Yes, all risks and complecations were addressed thoroughly.
I would rate Dr. Needleman a 10 out of 10.
I think both surgical competence and bedside manner are both great. Not to mention, office staff and clinical nurse practicioner are all great too!
These are my own personal comments based on my own personal experience. I would encourage anyone to do their own full investigation.
2/21/01 I met Dr. Needleman for the first time today. He is a wonderful person and I am of this opinion after only one visit. I went to this appointment with many questions. I only had to ask a couple due to the fact that he was so in depth with his explanation of the surgery. He is very open about what may or may not happen and what he anticipates to happen. I have alot of respect for the truth. I feel very comfortable with this doctor and know for certian I am in wonderful hands. He is backed up by the most wonderful, caring nurses and other staff. A very comfortable appointment.
I met with Dr. Needleman on December 27,2000. He appears to be highly intelligent. I am more confident now that I have met him. Even more so now that I know he is an assistant professor of surgery at OSU.
During my exam, he answered all of my questions thoroughly and eased my mind regarding several post operative issues. Surgery is scheduled for January 16th (my birthday to boot!)
Wish me luck!
1/24/01- Dr. Needleman handled my surgery very professionally. I felt confortable with him. My only complaint would be that I did not see him prior to my actual surgery. I was already under anestesia before he came into the OR. I would have liked to see him for some reassurance prior. But he checked on my every day afterwards and that care was wonderful.
Dr. Needleman is a very professional yet caring and compassionate doctor. Even though he is part of a very busy practice with top notch surgeons, he allowed plenty of time to explain the surgery and address any questions or concerns I had. I felt comfortable with him right from the start. Ohio State is a teaching hospital so there were always residents observing but I never felt self-conscious or like just "another case" instead of a real person. They were all wonderful. The only criticism I could offer is that I wish I could have met him earlier in the process, that was a major consideration for me in deciding whether or not to have the surgery at all. But at OSU you do not actually meet the surgeon until the pre-op visit 1 week prior to surgery. They do have a more aggressive food plan than other WLS surgeons and that makes it much more tolerable. Aftercare is coordinated with a nutritionist and you are monitored closely. I would highly recommend him to anyone considering this surgery.
Dr. Needleman was great he answered all of my husbands and my questions and he did so in a very professional yet compassionate manner. I also found Dr. Needleman to be very humble although by all accounts he is a extremely talented surgeon. I felt very comfort with him and I have totally faith in his abilities.
