Ocala Regional Medical Center (COE) Hospital
The overall experience was totally awesome. I was very nervous in pre-op to the point of hives and the nurse was concerned with my concerns and alleviated them by reassuring me. After the surgery, my night nurse, S Mancini was the best. He gave me my pain medication and nausea medication so I did not experience either of the two, essentially. The worst part was........ they made me WALK! the nerve of them, hahaha I even work there and they still showed no favortism, made me do what was BEST for me, even when I did not want to. The whole experience definitely was much better than I expected it to be, the staff was so efficient and thoughtful, how could I rate it any other way. I recommend this hospital to any patient for this surgery. They are well equipped to handle these types of sugeries not to mention the knowledge they possess to handle any crisis that may arise. Thank You , to all the wonderful staff!
Their staff is not so customer/patient friendly. They seem to be overwhelmed and unhappy with their work and it is obvious that they are just in a routine. Very few of the staff that cared for me really enjoyed their work and were genuinely concerned with me as a patient. One caregiver, picked up my foley and urine backflowed into my bladder and when I brought it to her attention, she snipped "oh it's no big deal" and walked out. Needless to say, I ws released from the hospital on Fri and re-admitted on Mon with an extreme bladder infection.
I rated the Hospital as good rather than excellent, even though the facilities were excellent, and the staff was thoughtful. Apparently the hospital had two short incidents when I was hospitalized that prevented the staff from giving me the attention I felt I deserved. Other patients with more pressing needs certainly needed to come first, but as a result of the incidents my IV was not checked, it came out of my vein and bloated my hand and I was delayed in leaving the hospital by a couple of hours. At first, I downgraded the hospital to poor. On second thought it was unfair to rate the hospital so poorly because of one or two minor problems.
The night nurses and techs went above and beyond with their duties. The first day nurse I had, Andrea, needs to take some time off. Her replacement on Friday afternoon, was great. The radiolgists helper that took me to the radiology department was a grouch and needs to find a new job, but the supervisor was terrific and made the solution to drink go down a little easier, not much easier, but a little.
