Northwestern Memorial Hospital Hospital
Great Hospital. Parking is a bit expensive. I spent the first day in ICU, which the nurses were very attentive. The next day I spent in a regular room, which was not 100% clean when I got in there, so it was cleaned (special thanks go out to my mom). The nurses in the regular rooms were not nearly as attentive, but everyone was friendly.
NMH is the kind of hospital facility that just makes you feel well cared for. The building itself is impressive. The rooms are private and well appointed. The nursing staff all seemed to care about my comfort and health. Any of my less-than-excellent rankings are easily brushed aside: Parking (although validated) is pricey because the hospital is located in the heart of one of the poshest neighborhoods of one of the world's greatest cities; a totally restful and quiet experience is impossible at any hospital where the staff monitors your vitals on a regular basis. Overall, it was a great experience...except, of course, for that operation thing!
One of the things that impressed me the most (besides the view of the lake from my private room [all rooms are private with a private bath!], the daybed so that a visitor could stay [even though my husband stole my pillow ... they DID get me another one] ... but the thing that really impressed me was how quiet it was! I was up at 4am one morning and just listened to see if I could hear something ... and it was SO quiet! I would have liked a little more attention from the staff, but maybe that's just me.
