From the first time I met him, I loved him! He answers truthfully and knows his job. His office staff gets things done. After my surgery, I had to look to see if I had been operated on because I felt NO pain in my abdomen area and still don't (only when I cough, of course). Outstanding surgeon!

I liked that Dr. Wizman never talked down to me, even at the first information session. One of the most important things I looked for when choosing a surgeon is their emphasis on aftercare. I could have chosen someone closer to where I live, but his patients said he did not place much emphasis on aftercare. That sealed the deal for me.
Dr. Wizman's staff is second to none. They all know their job and know it well.

I think Dr. Wizman is a genius. He is very personable, and talented. I think he is the best Dr. I have ever gone to. I never had any pain or problems from the hour after my surgery.
He continues his after care for years to come. He told me he'd still be seeing me five years out.
I went to a support group meeting and his seminar before the surgery. He was very frank that it was'nt going to be an easy road ahead.
He only does this type of surgery, and is a proctor for many new doctors wanting to do this type of surgery.
I reseached this surgery for two years and finally felt safe and comfortable with Dr. Wizman.
I would highly reccomend him to all.

I first met Dr. Wizman at the informational seminar. Dr. Wizman explained all risks involved in both types of surgery. He mainly does laproscopic. He was very personable. His fatality rate or lack of also impressed me. He has dedicated his knowledge soley to bariatric surgery and does this full time. He always uses the same OR room, same surgical staff in each hospital. He offers 4 hospitals. He is mainly in South East FL where there are 3. His main hospital is Northwest Regional in Margate (across from his office), Coral Springs Medical Center in Coral Springs, West Boca Medical center in Boca Raton and a hospital on the West Coast of Florida. After my 1 on 1 with him, he seems to also have a fantastic bedside manor. His seminar was run by his office manager Roxanne who went over what was needed from various insurance companies as well as explaining what to expect as far as a time line with requirements. I have yet to go to the education class. It is scheduled in 2 weeks.

There was a definite shortage of staff, so much so that the leg cuffs after surgery were not put on consistently after taking them off. This was dangerous because of developing blood clots. They were respectful of my praying in the operating room before my surgery began, in fact, one of the nurses sang the Lord's Prayer to me!

Overall
How well equipped was the hospital to handle overweight patients?
How much privacy did you feel the hospital gave you?
How accommodating was the hospital in allowing visitors to see you?
How restfully quiet did you find your experience?
How responsive did you feel the hospital was in give you pain medications?
How responsive do you feel the staff was in helping you with your general needs during your stay?
How sensitive was the staff to the needs of overweight patients?
How would you rate the parking accomodations?
How safe did you feel that the hospital was well equiped enough to handle any medical emergency that might arise during your stay there?

I have only met him through the info session in Cape Coral, but already I like him. He seems genuinely concerned and not just out for the money.

Post Surgery: In my own experience, Dr. Wizman was a good surgeon, but he lacks people skills. He checked on me daily and asked 2 or 3 questions, then was gone. I didn't appreciate the fact that he blew off my complaint of a bladder infection, either (I ended up in the hospital in my hometown for 4 days after I returned). He was inconsiderate on my discharge day, knowing I had to make a 3 hour drive home. He finally showed up at 4:00 and told us how he had been playing sports all day. Gee thanks! My mom can't see to drive in the dark and we're running late because of his SPORTS?!

The actual surgery was successful, and he DID make sure my oxygen levels were stable in the ICU. He did a good job being the doctor in that aspect.

Future patients need to know that he is exactly as he described himself to me at our consult: he's the surgery guy who likes to cut and sew and rearrange, but leaves all the other stuff to his staff. I think he needs a staff member to accompany him on rounds!

He does offer a once-a-month aftercare group for one hour, and there is a bariatric nurse here in Ft. Myers who answers any questions you have, so is part of the aftercare, as well.

Overall, I would give him a 6 out of 10, only because he is a good surgeon. His bedside manner needs a LOT of improvement!

My first Impression of Dr. Wizman was that he realy loves what he does. It made feel confortable. My impression still the same. The office staff is very helpful and try their best to accomodate you. What I liked least about the office I preffered to discusse it with them(if anything) I would recommend anyone to him, he is a great Doctor. Aftercare you learn more during the informational sessions. Everything was ok.

Well nothing realy negative, but a constructive critisism will not hurt. I'm a lap band patient, I guess not many of those are done, and felt that every time I was in one of the informational meeting it was all to the gastric bypass patients. Everytime I went to a regular app. I had to repeat my self about having lap band not the other surgery.
But besides this Dr. wizman is a very caring Doctor and would recomend him to anyone.

I went to an informational session which is where I first saw Dr Wizman. He seemed very jovial and friendly and confident in his staff and of course himself. My initial concern was that he was not the most experienced surgeon in the area, that I could go to. My first meeting with Dr. Wizman was at my consultation, which was one on one, he was awesome and answered my questions in a manner that gave me much comfort and trust in his abilities. His office staff have all been very friendly and helpful. Dr. Wozman puts great emphasise on aftercare and his nutritionist starts talking about aftercare the first time you see her. One negatvie about choosing this surgeon is that there are a lot of out of pocket expenses, which a lot of other offices do not charge you. Because you have to use their Nutritionist you pay out of pocket for that expense as well as for program fees. If you can get past this though, it is well worth it, because of the helpful nature of the staff. and the surgeon himself.

I have had absolutely no bad experiences with the doctor or his office staff.

He doesn't seem to geniunely care about keeping his patients thin for the long term. He has a fairly structured after-care program. Unfortunately not many of his patients appear to take advantage of it. I think they need better communication of when (and where) the meetings will be held. I've been to two of them and only a handful of people show up.

Dr. Wizman,
Is a wonderful man, very sensitive, kind, and funny. Really knows his stuff! My impresssion hasnt changed, he has always taken good care of me. His staff is great, actually Kendra and Cynthia are the best! Future patients should know that their are complications, but Dr. Wizman and staff are their to help you. Not really sure about the aftercare part because I do go to the support groups but thats about it.I would give him an 11 on a scale of 1-10! Both bedside manner and surgical competence are terrific. Highly recommended!

As for Coral Springs Medical Center try to get out of their as soon as possible! I had a terrible experience.
