Dr. Harris is a soft-spoken, kind, caring thorough doctor, who takes as much time as you have questions during visits.

Dr. Harris' office staff has been wonderful - very helpful and returns calls promptly.

He was very thorough about the risks, even requiring me to have a vena cava filter inserted prior to surgery because of a hx of pulmonary embolus.

I am now 11 weeks post-op and have lost 43.5 lbs. Dr. Harris is starting a support group which will meet at New Hanover Regional Medical Center on the 3rd Tuesday of the Month (hopefully starting in August). He continues to be a wonderful, caring physician, to whom I would refer anyone for WLS.

I am now 8-1/2 months post-op and have lost 94 lbs. Dr. Harris continues to care deeply about his patients, particularly around the issue of their long-term success. I can't say anything I like least about him.

Going to a vascular surgereon has showed me the difference between them and a bariatric surgeon. My doctor is a good surgeon and I have no problems with his clinical surgical ability. The two surgeons here only do proximal surgeries as they are concerned with the long term malabsorption effects. I do not think they realize that they may be causing the weight loss to be much slower and may even be easier to regain due to not having as much malabsorption. I do think this does not cause as much problems with what and how much you can eat. I have never had problems with diarrhea or vomiting. I have had some nausea when I have eaten too much. I had trouble getting a nurse there to call me post op 3 days and ended up going to my primary physician the day I called her with the same issues. I would have made different choices if I had this to do over. I would have wanted to be more in control of how much small intestine was bypassed. My surgeon has a support group that meets monthly that is growing and he has speakers to come in and present material. This has been established since my surgery. I think on the whole Dr. Harris does a good job/

Dr Harris has always been profesional and pleasent. EXplained everything but didn't talk down to me. He has good office staff that support his practice focus-obesity. I have never detected any "attitudes" toward the obese pt. He has started a support group that is very helpful-includes guest speakers, protien sampling sessions and clothing exchgs. He is very firm on follow-up. The dietician assoc. with the practice is available for questions at anytime-she is skinney but still "real world". Dr Harris has good skills and good bedside manner

10/09/2003 Had my first consulatation with my surgeon today. He came across as a very gentle, concerned, unbiased, qualified, and informative surgeon. His office staff is made up of angels... they are the best group of women you will ever meet... Helen and Kathy are wonderful! They are very upfront about your part in the WLS surgery and aftercare is extremely important. Everyone's door is always open from surgeon, nurse, psychologist, and nutritionist. I would highly recommend Dr Miles' WLS program.

All the staff was wonderful. The nurse I had even came in and hugged me to tell me she was leaving. I did have a man that was my nurse and he was kind of rough to the touch but he was very caring and conerned.

I met my surgeon for the first time on 9/26/03. He came across as very serious, professional, but warm. He definitely has a positive outlook on this whole process and you can't help but feel confident that he knows what he's doing and he cares about it as well. His office staff is Wonderful. Helen is very competent and willing to work miracles for all of us,and Cathy, my favorite...she is so wonderful. I met her first and adore her. The others I don't know but they are pleasant as well. I don't know him well enough to have a least aspect to Dr. Miles. The risks and the beforecare and aftercare programs have been mentioned several times by his staff and he followed with the same thoughts. Its nice to know that the whole office is of one mind when it comes to your health. So far I would rate Dr. Miles as someone I would trust with my life..literally.

I didnt get to meet Dr miles, I met his nurse Helen. She is super sweet but very upfront about this surgery, what you have to do and what can happen.
I was scheduled for my 1st nutrition class on 8-9-03. I will return to see Dr Miles himself on 9-2-03.

My 1st impression of Dr Miles was..wow he is young..LOL He spent quite a while talking to me, telling me what I needed to do to sucessfully get thru this surgery. He was very open with me about what could happen.
The office staff is just excellent! They all know you by name after to being there a few times. They are generally concerned and very very nice!
Dr Miles is very specific about his after care he tells you what you have to after surgery, no if ands or buts about it!
I would rate my surgeon and all of his staff a 10++++++. I highly recommend Dr Miles to anyone and everyone having or planning on having this surgery.
