NewStart at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center Hospital
I received excellent care during my stay. Nurses were thorough and responsive (even though I only called for help once). My instructions for at-home care of my drain site were in opposition to those of my surgeon, however, and I ended up with a reaction to adhesive tape from dressing the site rather than leaving it to air dry.
I asked so many time to put a humidifire put on to my room but the nurse kept saying I DON'T NEED IT or WHY. Well, if I want to have one, I should have one! I got one after day and a half asking for it finally. A few times, I has to ask for 2nd times to get my pain shot about a few times (one hours after the 1st request). I know my doctor told me that I can't have jello or popcicle, well they were on my tray while I was in the hospital. I told the nurse but said it was okay.
Herman Memorial was fine until I had to go back in for a drain site infection. I went to the admitting person with the papers from my DR. and she said sorry we are full. Here I set with a raging temp and in pain from drain site infection and she could have cared less. But once you get in the nursing staff is good. Also after I had a x-ray to make sure everything inside was ok I had to remind the group of people who were in charge of taking me back to my room to please take me back, they were busy in there little cubicle goofing around, but they arent even medical staff. So once you get past admitting the care is pretty good.
