MaineGeneral Health Hospital
The Bariatric Center has a great program in general. Everyone I have worked with has been great. I began with the first seminar about a year ago. After listening to the options I chose to go with the "Sleeve" procedure. Dr. Trieu was/is fantastic! My surgery was in September 2014. I had no complications, and at 7.5 months out I am 5 lbs from goal!
My only complaint was some strong nausea. I had no problem with my sutures...in fact, I have no scars at all! Couldn't be happier with the process, Dr. Trieu or his team.
THANK YOU!
Dr. Trieu is a great doctor. He is always all about his business, "weight loss surgery." This really helped me to have trust in him even though he looks young. I am 10 days post-surgery and feel great. I never could have imagined I would feel this good after such a major surgery. I can't wait for my follow-up appointment so I can tell him how great a job he did!
I do have to agree with a few other people in regards to his availablity. He is pretty busy all the time and scheduling an appointment can be tough. Its always worth the wait though.
When I first met Dr. Trieu he was so nice and he listened to what my life partner had to say and id really seemed like he cared about her needs!!!!!! So now two years later I have made to choice to pick him because his kindness his personal profession with his patents his specialty with WLS his double checking!!!!! He makes me feel right at home!!!!!! All the staff in his office are all sweet and caring people!!! The only thing I could say that I don't like about him is really not a reason to not like him its a good thing!!!!!! Anyways its that he is so busy. But that's good!!! Office visits are really short he seems to always be on the run!!! Before care and after care are stricked!!!!! Fallow it to succeed!!!! Fallow it to live!!!!! I would rate him a 9!!!! Both!!!!!
My first impression of Huy was that he was understanding and professional. He answered all of my questions and did not rush me out of his office. He explained the entire procedure and addressed the risks of surgery. He did not sugar coat anything and I told him that it took me 44 years to put this weight on and I did not believe it would come off overnight. I was realistic going into this and he assured me that would be helpful. I also knew I had a hyatial hernia (which he repaired during surgery). I told him as well that I had 3 herniated discs. He said that the surgery may not help them, but we would see overtime. (6 months out I have not had ANY problem with my back. I credit that with the weight loss as well as the regular exercise.) Over time I have found him to be just wonderful. I was so thrilled to find out that on the day of my surgery he began doing a new port placement procedure. It did not require the invasive procedure of the past and there were no internal stitches. It involved a piece of mesh that attaches itself to the surrounding pasha. I had no post surgery port pain. rnrnHis office staff is outstanding! I felt comfortable with them since day 1. Lori understands EVERYTHING I am going thru and has such helpful advice. Megan (my nut) was through and helpful. Pat (receptionist) is so easy to talk to! I feel comfortable talking to her and she does everything she can to make suitable appointments for me. As for Lynn..WHAT PATIENCE. She took all of my silly Insurance questions and never made me feel like a pest. I had an insurance change mid approval and was worried. She stuck with me and was sooo helpful. Even to this day I look forward to seeing all three of them...THEY ARE ALWAYS SMILING! rnrnAs with all approvals I had to go thru nutritional visits and a Psyc exam, but as an added bonus I had 3 visits with a personal trainer (Nate). He worked with me at my level and supplied me with the proper tools (bands) and advice to prepare me for getting into shape. I look forward to seeing him again when I get closer to my goal.rnrnThe after care with Huy is phenomenal. I see him monthly and can get in contact with his nurse (Lori) or Nut (Megan) by email or by phone anytime. They never make me feel like a nuisance and are always helpful. I hate to be a pain, so I found emailing was better for me because I knew they could answer emails in their own time and I would not be intruding on their day. rnrnI would give Dr. Trieu an A+ and his staff an A+ as well. His bedside manner and surgical competence are superior. I consider myself lucky to have found him. I have to travel 50 minutes one way to see him but it is entirely worth it. I would have traveled further for the quality of care I have received. They say a Dr. is only as good as his staff...He clearly has handpicked his staff. At no time have they made me feel anything but safe and taken care of. rnrn
I liked Dr. Trieu from the first meeting. He was easy to talk to and very honest with what he felt was best for me. If I disagreed with his decisions he was open to talking with me about other options. The office staff is WONDERFUL! Dr. Trieu believes in full care... before, after and during any procedure. The VSG in Maine is VERY new and I was the third patient to receive a sleeve. I had no worries as Dr. Trieu is the best... I honestly cannot think of one negative thing to say about him! He fought my insurance company and helped me get my VSG approved when it was initially denied.rnrnThank you Dr. Trieu and the entired Maine General Bariatric Center staff... you make a great team!
Dr. Trieu was great, very support, accessable, and always ready to answer questions. He really listens to what I have to say. The only thing I wish he had done different was given me a goal weight prior to surgery, I am a very goal oriented person and that would have helped me. I have to say I don't believe I asked him what my goal weight was prior to surgery. When I first met Dr. Trieu I thought his guy is too young to be a surgeon, but once he started explain the procedure I had totall confidence in him. The entire process at the Bariatric Center was great and I won't change a thing about it.
My first impression was he is way to young to know what he is doing.rnrnHe is very knowledgeable and not quite as young as he looks. Not too mention his track record in the number of RNY's he has done.rnrnThe staff is very friendly. Will answer any questions you have.rnrnNot really anything. One thing that bothered me though was he had no after hours care. If something were to have gone wrong over the weekend I would have had to go to the ER.Luckily nothing went too wrong with the exception of dehydration.rnrnYou have to make sure you talk to him and let him know what is going on because if you don't tell him he don't know.rnrnAftercare is very important to him as well as yourself.rnrnHis aftercare program is very structured.rnrnDr. Trieu was very straight forward with the risks of the surgery. But when you weigh them against the risks or MORBID OBESITY they don't seem as scary.rnrnI would rate Dr. Trieu as amazing. He is very skilled at what he does and has a personality to boot.rnrnI feel that the surgical competence is of greater importance but bedside manner helps a lot. Dr. Trieu has both.
