Kaiser Permanente Richmond Medical Center Hospital
She was wonderful. I liked her from the moment I met her. She was really caring and concerned for me. She was very knowledgable. Her office staff were very friendly and eager to help me. She listened and was genuine....she looked me right in the eye when she spoke to me. She told me everything to expect and everything went exactally as she said. She did a minimally invasive procedure on me. My scars were small and my pain was minimal. She emphasized aftercare greatly. Her affilate hospital, Kaiser Permenante, has a great program for before surgery, during and after. Unfortunatelly for me, I had to move away only one month after surgery and didn't get to follow up with her....but the teaching I had prior to the procedure helped me to know how to handle post op concerns. I've done well and expect to continue to do so. Her surgical competence and bedside manner were great and she appeared to go above and beyond her call to be a great physician.
I HAVEN'T MET DR BAGGS YET, BUT I HAVE MY PRE OP CONSULT SCHEDUALED WITH HIM ON DECEMBER 1ST. I MET DR PARK LAST WEEK AT KAISER IN RICHMOND AND I LIKE HOW STRAIGHT FORWARD SHE IS ABOUT THE GOOD, BAD AND UGLY OF WLS. I ALSO LEARNED THAT KAISER HAS A 2 SURGEON POLICY IN THE OR. I'VE HEARD VERY GOOD THINGS ABOUT BOTH DRS.
UPDATE... i MET DR BAGGS ON THE 1ST OF DEC. I'M MORE THAN PLEASED! HE IS STRAIGHT FORWARD, YET CARING. I AM NOW SCHEDUALED FOR LAP RNY ON THE 27TH OF DEC.
I was completely impressed with dr. Baggs. He made sure that I understood the risks of having surgery done. I really like how he has a great sense of humor, but knows when its time to be serious about whats going on! I am so happy that he is going to be my surgeon. I have only heard the best of news from people about him. I must say it is nice when they remember you as a person instead of being just another patient :)
In my experience so far, Dr. Baggs has been very knowledgable. Has answered every question. He has been very informative on the pros and cons of this surgery. He seems compassionate to his patients. He encourages you to bring a support person - if married, bring your spouse. His staff has been encouraging and sensitive.
*UPDATE* 7/12/05 - Dr. Baggs is terrific. Very compassionate, personable, and all those things that you would look for in a sincere human being, one that you would be comfortable placing your life into their hands.
These people are awesome. They are helpful, caring, compassionate right from the start. We live three hours from Richmond and know nothing of this town other than Kaiser so instead of making my husband travel all the way home and all the way back they provided me with a private room for him to stay with me. They are an extremely busy staff of nurses (gov't fault?!) so it took them a bit to answer call light but once my hubbie and I got the hang of unplugging things we were able to handle it. AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!!!!!!!
You have to know how to handle the Kaiser system. Sometimes it requires you being a little aggressive. I made sure that I had all my ducks in a row before going into the hospital. The only downside to my entire stay was the night nurse didn't want to help me walk (I was up and walking 1.5 hours after surgery) and when I got upset about this she wanted to preach her religion to me. Other wise everything was great.
I really liked Dr. Baggs. He was easy going, answered all my husbands questions, and was easy to talk to. Very personable! He was very upfront about the risks associated with this surgery.
I had complete confidence in his ability and knew I was in the best of hands!
I came through surgery great and went home the next day.
The office staff at Richmond are great. I loved my case manager, Mary and the NP Pat Ridgeway. They were both so easy to talk to and personable.
