Inova Fair Oaks Hospital Hospital
My stay, after surgery on the surgical floor, was terrible. I think it was because there was a shortage of nurses after the Holiday. It took an hour to get a response for help. The nurses did not regularly attend to you. My second stay, two weeks later, was much better. I was on the Medical floor. The nurses were wonderful.
Everything went pretty well. I was in recovery longer than I should have - almost 5 hours because my bed was not ready - we were told it was a housekeeping issue. The nurses on my floor were all very nice and pretty quick to help if I needed it. I was only in the hospital from Friday through Sunday morning so it wasn't a long stay to really rate everything, but I am pretty happy with no major complaints with my stay or care.
I found the receptionist and nurses the day of surgery un friendly and un caring. The floor nurses were mostly too busy to attend to the patients. One night I could not pull myself to a sitting position, had no family member there, and had a nurse at each side of me. I had my hands out begging for assistance to pull me up and they just looked at me while I pleaded. I find that most of them had a language barrier and did not understand English. They could ask the questions in English but did not understand an English response. It was very frustrating. I needed a Pic line on a Saturday and was told that the Radiologist was too busy and didn't have time to do a pic line. Positive note: I had one nurse named Zena who was awesome, caring and very professional.
