Inova Fair Oaks Hospital Hospital
I was happy with most of the staff (two nurses in particular). However, the nurse in the operating room threw a fit because I wanted to take a mediation tape into surgery that was designed to reduce my need for post-op pain medications. She literally begged me not to take my recorder into surgery (even after the anasthesiologist (sic) agreed to accept 100% responsibility for the $10 recorder). When I got into the operating room the hospital nurse told everyone there how upset she was about it and that they (the doctor's office) needed to "fix" this problem. They also left me in post-op for over 4 hours while my mother was sent to my assigned room to wait for me there while I was being told I didn't have an assigned room. Once I got into the room (which I was told would be a private room but was not) the staff failed to connect my nurse's alarm and all of the peripheral equipment on the bed. I had to wait 3 hours for someone who just happened to walk by my door to get the nurse's attention. But, after the first day, the rest went well.
I would have given this hospital a excellent rating execpt for the last day and a half I was there they put a general surgrey patient in my room and it was like I was no longer even there. Your starving and shes ordering pancakes and maple surup and the like for breakfast and to top it all off her nurse who was not my nurse built a blockade to keep me for the bathroom on the moring that I was to go home. Until that day I would have to say that my stay had been great.
The staff was cordial, friendly, and willing to make me at ease about the procedure. I was able to talk w/ the anethstesiologist before the procedure and ask any questions I wanted to anyone walking by. It was a comfort to see my surgeon beforehand. the after care staff was great too. Anything i requested they got to me in a timely manner and they were always polite and courtious. God Forbid I have any more surgeries, but if needed I would use INOVA FO again.
