Hazleton General Hospital Hospital
My surgeon was very good, however the staff dissapointed me greatly. The could not find many veins on me so the just kept jabbing me and then my hand ended up swelling up 3 times it's size, which wasn't even taken care or realized until a day and a half later.
I was not given a PCA so everytime I asked them for pain medication I had to go like through a survey before they would give me the meds and that was always an hour later than requested.
As for paging anyone for help, they would answer the page very cocky and wouldn't show up until an hour later.
My husband stayed with me and was glad because by the time any of the nurses would've came to help me I would have had many accidents in bed. Some of the staff was caring others were not at all. I was getting my blood transfusions and told to rest then the next minute another nurse would be in yelling for me to get up and walk the hall. They took me off of liquids for 3 days because I had ab pain. My surgeon hit the roof when he found this out and I felt at least someone was coming to my defense. Some staff was good but alot I am very sad to say were mad because it was xmas week and they had to work. I was in a lot of pain and it seemed like they thought I was putting on a big show.
My husband and I also thought that it was very unhealthy to leave a used needle in my bed, a flushing needle balancing on my IV and several alcohal swab papers and other trash just lingering around my bed.
i thought the nurses in the recovery room were great and the Aides in the flooor were really nice but in general i had to call the supervisor becasue th nursing staff must not all were pretty mean. 20 mins to get a bell answered. and this one nurse i came in cuz i needed help to get up to go to the bathroom i asked for a hand she said do it your self i am not hurting my self for anyone i think that is a little mean well a lot. i mean as much as nurses get paid now a days you think they could show a little compassion to people and understanding.
