Hazleton General Hospital Hospital
ICU was pure horor, thanks to the nurse who took care of me on tuesday morning until afternoon.. this nurse was not willing to lift ONE finger for me, it was the worst experience ever. i had my period, and without getting into too much details, it ended up, with MY HUSBAND having to wash me, i was all bloody, and MY HUSBAND inserting a tampon... later on, i finally made it to the bathroom, the same nurse refused to help me pull up my underwear.. i am still crying over how bad and nasty this one person made me feel in my most vulnerable time... right after having this surgery!
once i was moved to the regular floor, it was like i was surounded by angels... the nurses and staff were friendly, helpful, and just great.. i couldnt stop thanking them for beeing so nice!
I only have two complaints and nothing has to do with the care I received, it was more of a support staff issue. The ICU and the 4th floor nurses were awesome!!!
While laying in my bed- with my belly exposed with an open wound, the cleaning lady came into the room and started spraying things and mopping my floor with no regard for me laying there.
My sheet was not changed for 4 days, when I finally asked someone to do it, I was told that she couldnt, that it was against protocol, they only change sheets when they are stained! I finally more or less made her do it, reported it to my Doctor and the patient liasion and it was taking care of and I was assured that this is not protocol and that this person would be spoken too.
Being a former ICCU RN I have to say that the care in ICCU was comperable to how I cared for my former patients. The floor care was good however the nurse I had every day 7-3 had no concept of what it is to be cut open with a gaping wound. The staff was clueless on how to operate the bariatric bed and I eventually did all my care myself just to get out of there.
