I have met Dr. Ali twice as a client. The first time I met him was for my initial visit. He is very attentive and listens. He explains things quite well and does not talk down.
He is NON-JUDGEMENTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also have had the opportunity to listen to him talk on the phone due to work environment and I was amazed at the amount of time and energy he spent with the client. He spent a large amount of time reassuring and educating about the problem the caller was facing. His level of compassion is amazing for a surgeon (believe me I have met THOUSANDS).

Dr. Ali works in conjunction with Dr. Smith at Truman Medical Center and they are developing a program for bariatric patients. The facility has recently obtained large seats so we can sit comfortably. The scales will weigh us. Although getting an appointment is hard at times.

There is not an aftercare program as yet which I am apprehensive about but I am going to use the KCWLSSG to help.

He did a great job in surgery and he is conservative when it comes to taking risks with his patients. He is quite compassionate and gives the caregivers a sense of security and caring. He made several trips to see me during my stay and my parents were quite surprised to see this since most docs only show up once a day. His bedside manner is good although He always caught me AFTER I had just gotten back in bed.

These comments are strictly of my own personal experience and may not be the expierence you will have with Dr. Ali.

I recently spoke w/Dr. Ali, he was very kind and patient. His office is clean and he appears to be knowledgeable. His nurse, Elizabeth was very kind and sweet too. Future patients should know that he may or may not perform laperscopic surgery on you if your BMI is over 50. Mine was ever so slightly above 50 and he wants me to reduce it to at least 50. However, he will work with me, gave me information and numbers to contact to work with individuals about my insurance and with my weight. We did talk briefly about the aftercare. He did discuss in detail the risks I would be taking. When I asked for references he gave me the impression he was extremely confident with the open and had done several of these types but I personally felt he was less confident about the lap.

Things you need to remember:

1. If you smoke, must quit at least one month before surgery to help keep infection from occuring.

2. If you want the lap, your BMI should probably not be above 50 if seeing Dr. Ali.

3. Dr. Ali's office may not be set up to do a lap surgery for approximately 2-3 months.

I would rate Dr. Ali a 9 (10 being the best) for my first visit.

At this time, I have decided to get a few more opinions before proceeding. This is not to say I won't choose Dr. Ali, it's just that I want to seek out all my options. This is a life altering decision and I need to be sure in my own mind that I am doing what is best for my body and my health.

I have been communicating with him via email. he is quick to respond and has been answering all kinds of questions. He is amazing. I spoke over the phone with Edwina, in billing, and she was so nice. She has gone out of her way to make things easy for me. I really think he sounds great so far. I love that he cares about the patient and not so much about the money.

I went for my first consult w/ doctor Ali and I felt that he was very informative. I am Muslim so I felt that I recieved a certain level of respect which I apprieciated. He is very freindly and was able to answer all of my questions.

My impression of him has not changed he is still a very supportive person.

The office staff was some what nice. I had a lproblem w/ one of the staff members about the scheduling. She was a bit rude w/ me and I didn't appreciate that part of it.

There is nothing that I can say bad abput him. He seemed very concerned and wanted to make sure that I was secure in my decision and doing this for the right reason.

Very concerned and informative. Will answer any questions. I was very impressed.

They do have a somewhat structured program. They are in the process of putting together now.

He was very up front and made sure that I knew all the risks.

I would rate him on a scale frome 1-10. He is a ten. Very professional and not in a hurry to get me out of the office. wanted to make sure that all my questions were answered and asked me indepth questions also. Very impressed over all.

I would think that they are both great. I've heard nothing but good things about him. Wonderful person

Just wanted to add one more thing. Dr. Ali is a very concerned doctor. I had a few problem's with a women on his staff and he took care of it as soon as I told him. He called me back the same day to tell me that it was taken care of and E-mailed me. I really like him. I have never meet a doctor that is this concerned w/ his patients.

I had my consult with Dr. Ali. I am very impressed with his bedside manner. (I had had a consult with another surgeon in KC whose bedside manner was rude) I switched surgeons.

Dr. Ali has put together a new team of professionals to assist his patients with their WLS. I saw the Nutritionist today. Since I've done a lot of research it wasn't anything I didn't know... but now I have it in written form.

I will add to this after I'm post op...but so far I am very impressed with his credentials. See his website at mylapsurgeon.com
