Emory Johns Creek Hospital (COE) Hospital
The nursing staff on the bariatric unit was so, kinda Nveka, Bryd, Angie, were my nurses they were all kind and sweet. The unit has a wonderful shower room ! The sleeping accomodations for my husband were wonderful. Everyone there was just fantastic down to admissions.... I was more than pleased with my hospital care! Job well done from one nurse to another!!!
I was surprised how small this hospital was. In Atlanta it seems there are huge hospitals on every corner. Anyway it was very modern on the inside and the bariatric wing was top notch. I believe there was only one other WLS patient on the wing with me so talk about getting lots of individual attention. They treated me like royalty but in an informal way. I can't think of one negative thing to say about my experience with them. The atmosphere was comforting, that's because the nurses made it that way. When I was feeling bad they were there for me and stayed on top of it until I was better.
Can't say enough good things about this hospital in regards to having bariatric surgery. They have thought of everything to make your stay the most comfortable and dignified that it can be. To the specialized bed that lifts to a chair formation to avoid pain getting out of bed (where were these when I had a c-section with my daughter 7 yrs ago?!), to the beautiful spa-like oversized shower room with heated towel racks and 2 shower heads to actually take a relaxing shower during your stay, to the oversized chairs available in all the waiting rooms for larger bottoms, to the all-private rooms for the privacy and dignity of all the WLS patients with pull out bed in case a family member wants to stay overnight with you, to their fantastic staff of nurses who know just how to make you as comfortable as possible (especially Bird, who is a legend there as far as I can tell - she was priceless!) you cannot have a better experience doing something that involves having surgery and recovering. I would recommend this hospital highly to anyone considering having WLS in the Atlanta area.
My stay at Emory Dunwoody would be rated at the highest level I could give it. Everyone there from the admissions clerk to the nurses were fantastic. Anyone who is or has been a patient in this hospital knows where I am coming from. The nurses on the Bariatrics Wing go above and beyond thier call of duty. They are truely god sends in our time of healing.
