El Camino Hospital Hospital
Dr Zare is a very personable and kind doctor with an excellent program of nutritionial, psychological councling prior to surgery. I find that the preop work really helps to connect with the reality of post op life. There is a complete binder of information provided on the first day. I lovingly call this my bible of well being. It covers all aspects, preop and post op risks vs benefits, nutritional guides and what to expect
The aftercare program, just a 2 week followup to check sutures and answer any questions and a 4 month folloup with lab review then annually. He also suggests that you join a support group.
So far so good! There was a little more pain than I had expected, but it's very managable and gets better everyday. (could be I'm just impatiient..)
1 year update - Post op care leaves a lot to be desired. I believe that once the scapel is down, the care stops. I've met my goal and have lost 122 pounds, but trying to get an appt with this md post op isn't easy, and his staff is rude. If you can go it alone post op, then it's a good fit, otherwise keep shopping.

Dr. Zare is amazing! He's such a brilliant surgeon and he has a great personality too ... and that's hard to find!
Pre-op: He always made me feel at ease, answered all of my questions and helped make the process easy. Ben who works in his office is amazing as well. He's so friendly and an expert when it comes to navigating insurance companies and just the overall process from beginning to end.
Surgery: On the day of my surgery, Dr. Zare greeted me with a smile on his face and seemed just as excited about the surgery as I was. After my surgery was over he visited me in my hospital room each day while I was in the hospital. The surgery was flawless, perfection and what more can you ask for? There were NO surprises because he made sure I knew what would happen every step along the way.
Having weightloss surgery was one of the biggest decisions I've ever made and Dr. Zare and Ben made sure that I was informed, comfortable and in great hands.
I would recommend (and already have) Dr. Zare to anyone looking into weightloss surgery.
Dr. Wetter is a very easy to talk to, non-judgmental, and extremely competent surgeon. Not only did I have lap band surgery 3 years ago and lost close to 100 pounds, but also had a laproscopic colon resection by him for another unrelated problem. Both he and his staff were always very responsive and attentive. I did note on a few occasions during after care office visits that the schedule was not always maintained, but there was always a reasonable explanation he offered....after all there are more patients with critical needs requiring his skill versus my after care appointment. Regardless, I have never felt rushed and he ALWAYS lets you take a moment to gather your thoughts to ask any last questions you may have. I have always felt that he was there to truly help me and not his ego. I would highly recommend Dr. Wetter for his technical skills, bedside manner, and compassion for his patients.
Working with Dr. Zare was the easiest part of this process. He is easy going, easy to talk to and straightforward with his answers.
I met with him twice before surgery (once for the seminar and another time to sign the paperwork). On the day of the surgery he came in to meet with me and assure me that everything was going to go really well. And then the anesthesiologist said "Goodnight!" and I was OUT!
I woke up a few hours later (and promptly fell back asleep) and it was all done! He did an amazing job. As of the date of this review I'm about 2 weeks out and my incisions are healing up really nicely! I was worried about having some pretty significant scars - but they're not bad at all!
Oh AND I'm down 28lbs since 9/15 and feeling great!
One last thing - Ben at Dr. Zare's office is truly wonderful. It's really important that patients feel like they can always get a question answered (and trust me I had many) and Ben was able to answer many of my questions (mostly about the insurance approval process, etc.) and if he couldn't answer it he was always sure to pass it on to Dr. Zare and get back to me asap.
To Dr. Zare & Ben - thank you both so very much for helping me through this process. I can't wait to check in again with you in a few months looking healthy and fabulous!
Thanks!
Sheresa

This surgery saved my life. I no longer have health issues from before my surgery. I have learned to eat heathier and I care about my health and the way I look. It has been over a year since I had my surgery and I would do it again. Dr Zare is a very compassionate and caring physician. His response to phone calls is immediate. He treats you with the utmost of respect and I would recommend him to everyone looking for a physcican.

Dr. Zare is the best Doctor ever by the support and surgery and my health today he is the best. Thank you So Much!!!
Dr. Zare was as real as they come. Very hospitable; yet very honest. From the first time I spoke with him in person, I felt very secure in his abilities. Well organized and thoughtful. He knew I was nervous, but he eased my mind by being there whenever I needed him to be.
I never got the feeling that I was just a paycheck or number to him. He treated me with respect and dignity every time.
His office staff is AWESOME!!! Ben, you are amazing. They really take their time to insure everything is correct the first time.
Dr. Zare makes sure that one knows that this is a life change vs a quick fix. He emphasizes the importance of aftercare and support groups.
I would recommend Dr. Zare to anyone needing WLS.
First let me say that Dr.Zare and his staff are great. Dr.Zare office staff will walk you thru the whole process. When I need to push up my appointments to meet my scheduled Ben was able to meet my needs. This was great since I had time constraints. Dr. Zare takes your well being in his hands. You have to start a liquid diet for at least a week If you have a high BMI like I did (55) he will have you get a IVC filter in place in case of blood clots. Also a sleep test done so if you have sleep apnea you can get a CPAP machine for when you our on your meds after surgery. Im 5 days post op and feeling good

it is hard to put in words the many ways my bariatric surgery has improved my life. I had my surgery 16 months ago. My primary doctor has eliminated or drastrically lowered the dosage of the majority of my medicines. The money I used to spend on medicine, I now spend on cute summer dresses. I noticed that more aand more people in my dousing complex were aout walkiing this summer. My walking buddy said it was because I had been inspiring more and more people to get out and walk. Before my surgery I had to use walking sticks just to walk around once around my complex. Now I walk twice a day at least 30 minutes each time and hike with myy grandsons for over 90 minutes with no problem. The manager in my complex asked me to teach water excercises in our pool. We now have about 8 ladies 3 times a week.
