Dr. St Jean is very quiet, but honest and to the point. He and his staff were very professional and courteous. Even though I have been through months of wls education Dr. St Jean still made it a point to go over exactly what should happen, what could happen and how things would proceed in either case. I am quite pleased with him and want to assure anyone who is going to have surgery with him that they are in excellent hands.
When I first met Dr. Toder it was in group and i knew right then and there i wanted her as my surgeon. I had my consult with her and she was very direct she was to the point she gave me a goal i had to reach in 3 months well i went there one month later for my pre-op visit and i was 2lbs shy of the goal she gave me and also 2 months early due to my date being moved . she walked into the room tapped me with the folder smile and told me how proud she was of me and how she was so worried she about me not getting there. That was awesome ! She is a wonderful person and i cant wait to have this surgery only a couple days away!

Dr. StJean and the whole bariatric team at Womack are THE BEST. With the fused intestinal problem he encountered it would have been easier for him to fix it all by cutting me open. He chose to find a way to fix it all laparoscopically, no doubt, for my benefit to make my recouperation much less painful. I could not have been in better hands. From the moment I met him, I was so impressed with his total concern for me and the knowledge he pocesses. They encourage your spouse to come with you and ask questions also. They have a great pre-op requirements that at first I couldn't imagine the reasons for all that education and attendance at educational groups and support groups. Now I know I could not have gone thru any of it without it. The bariatric nurse, surgical nurse, nutritionist, psychologist, even the ladies in charge of making all the appointments have the best disposition I have ever encountered in a hospital. They definitely let you know from the get go that you are the most important person to them. My first week home I actually called them once and went in twice due to concerns over the gastrostomy tube and what was happening there. They all made me feel like I was the most important person they had there every single time. The doctor always made time to come into the room and evaluate the problem, and teach me more about everything that he had had to do. Everytime I went in, I came out feeling so much better. They kept assuring me that I could call or go in anytime I had the slightest worry about anything...no appointment needed. Even the nurses in the ward were fabulous. Usually one goes home within a day or two at most, I had to stay an extra day due to the gastrostomy. Surgical competence AND bedside manners are both important, and in my case, they were great! I will be going to my first post-op support group this afternoon and I can't wait.rnrnThe follow up with this team will last 5 years...now how great is that!rnrnI have absolutely nothing bad at all to say about my doctor and the complete team. I could not be in better hands...thank God!!!
My first impression? Oh my God she looks just like my boyfriend's ex-wife! Seriously, I knew from the first meeting that Dr. Toder was all business and I wasn't going to pull any wool over her eyes. She is all business and she is there to help you learn how to help yourself. She instilled on me the importance of following the program and to realize that gastric bypass surgery is not a magic pill but rather a tool to help you to lose weight. I was a little hurt when at my six month appt. she told me my weight loss to date was neither exceptional nor terrible, but just run of the mill. I thought 80 lbs lost was great but maybe she was just trying to get me motivated to try even harder. It worked..I joined the gym and have lost 15 more pounds since I saw her two months ago. rnMy life has changed dramatically for the better, since my surgery. My diabetes is gone, my blood pressure is normal and I feel great. I know I have increased the amount of years I have left. Thank you Dr. No-nonsense Toder. Karen Oakes

My first impression of him was with my BF for her pre-op appointment, and I thought he seemed to be a very compassionate doctor. He listened and gave me the impression that she matter as a person and was not just a case. Later, I was so pleased when he remembered meeting me and said he'd be more than happy to do my surgery. rnMy impression of him has only gotten better. I would recommend Dr. St Jean to anyone who is fortunate enough to be within the Fort Bragg community of medicine. He is a real asset to the program.
My husband and I choose Dr. Toder as our surgeon after the recommendation of another patient.rnWe liked her honesty and felt that she had the time to answer all of our questions and concerns both pre and post-op for our Lap. RNY.rnrnAt 3 months out I have had a major complication, an intestinal hernia, as a result of weight loss, not due to surgery. Dr. Toder and her staff were there to answer questions, suggest which testing could be done at my home hospital and which she preferred to have done in Bangor. I had emergency surgery with Dr. Toder. She was very concerned, not only took care of the hernia but also made sure there were no other problems with my intestinal tract.rnrnWe made the right choice in surgeons. I credit her with saving my life. I'm glad I have such a caring, knowledgeable professional as part of my SWL team.
