I had my first visit with Dr. Olsen, Friday, Aug. 11. I found him to be very serious about his profession. He explained everything so completely. All my questions were answered extensively by him. His staff is absolutely wonderful. They treated me as if they had known me all my life. If you are considering this surgery I would strongly suggest you see Dr. Olsen, he let me know up front that this was a team effort, that I am not in it alone, and that together we will succeed. rnNow as of March 9, 2008 I am 18 months out after my surgery my impression of Dr. Olsen and his staff has not changed. In fact I have grown more appreciative of him and his staff. Recently Dr. Olsen and his staff were there for me when my husband had an unexplainable near death incident. Some one from Dr. Olsen's staff was at the hospital every day sitting with me and trying to keep me calm while my husband was being run the mill with test, knowing how frightened I was they took exceptionally good care of me. Dr. Olsen had also done gastric bypass on my husband Dec. 19, 2006. Rob's sudden illness had nothing to do with his surgery. The caring staff at Centennial Center for the treatment of Obesity were so good to me. Words will never be able to tell just how grateful I am to all of them.rnFuture patients should know that Dr. O. is very strict when it comes to following his orders. He wants the best for his patients and he goes all out to see that they are successful. If you are considering RNY/ Gastric Bypass Surgery, Dr. Olsen is the Dr. for you. If you want excellence, in ability and excellence in staff relationships.rnThere is not one thing that I did not like about Dr. Olsen and his staff.rnDr. Olsen is real big on aftercare, he insist on it. That is what made me and my husband so successful in a years time. There is a structured aftercare program. In my opinion the aftercare program is one of the most important things a gastric bypass patients can utilize. We are given a tool to use and without the aftercare program we sometimes don't understand the full potential of how this tool can help.rnThe risk of surgery was addressed on at the very first office visit. Dr. Olsen explained everything in great detail taking as much time as I needed to understand the decision I had made.rnOn a scale of 1-10 Dr. Olsen would be off the chart, His grade would be a 10 ++++++++++++.rnSurgical competence is far more important to me than bedside manner. Dr. Olsen is not one to joke and kid around when it comes to your life.rnThe more you get to know him the more happier you will be glad that you chose him for your surgeon. His wife Kathy is a great asset to his staff. I can't say enough good things about Kendra and Gay.rnDr. Olsen, kathy Olsen, Kendra, Gay and Kathy Hungerford are the best part of my journey, other than of course my WLS. They have become an important part of mine and Robert's life.rnSandi R. 8/28/06 RNY, Dr. Olsen, 331/147/rnIf you want to be treated like family then Dr. Olsen and his staff is the way to go.rn

I chose Dr. David Dyer as my bariatric surgeon mainly because he accepted Medicare. For 28 years I had worked in a health department which gave me the opportunity to work with physicians in all aspects, so I wanted to make sure I had made the right decision. I researched Dr. Dyer’s background and was pleased with the results which were reinforced by my primary care physician who knew Dr. Dyer personally. Dr. Dyer is everything you want a surgeon to be, knowledgeable, well-versed on all aspects of gastric bypass surgery and is continually updating his knowledge by attending seminars on his field of medicine. He has made me feel like he knows me on a personal basis, takes the time to listen to all my questions and doesn’t make light of any situation I might discuss. Before my surgery, we had discussed a possible hernia repair and he suggested we wait; however, while doing my surgery he discovered I had quadruple hernias. He took the time to go ahead and repair all the hernias as well as fix some other problems resulting in an 8 ½ hour surgery. To me that was over and beyond the call of duty and I am truly grateful to him for doing both surgeries at one time. When I was admitted to Williamson County Medical Center 10 days after my surgeries, he was on the phone calling me to make sure everything was going o.k. That is what makes Dr. Dyer so special. He CARES!!! I am happy to say he is an excellent surgeon and would highly recommend him to anyone having gastric bypass surgery. Barbara D., Hendersonville, TN

Dr. Olsen is very much the professional. It is obvious he is concerned about the success of the patient and tries to answer any questions I have. I would give him a 10 and would pick him again if given the chance. The office staff is very supportive and friendly. My time in the waiting room has been minimal each visit. I did not find the information regarding exersice very helpful, however. Overall, Great!

Very up front and truthful. I met him at the my first conference and I'm glad I did. He told it like it was and was to the point. I wanted a doctor like him. And I was able to get him. I was glad he had an opening. My first office visits was good. My impression didnn\"t change until several visits. He expected more than I could do until later he realized that my metabolism was much slower and he treated me with a better attitude. I was feeling bad about myself until he explained to me some people have an active metoblic system and some people don't and I don't. So i have to be more careful on my intake on calories. The staff is very courtesy and nice to be around. Dr. Olsen is a very good doctor he let's you know what you need to do and also emphasize that you go to the support groups, dietician, have your lab work done. He also emphasize for you to take your vitamins and count your calories. He's thoroughly do your weekly and month checkups. He was up front on the risk of surgery. He said their have been some fataliteis but not that many. I rate him 10. on both surgical competence, bedside manner.

I have worked in the healthcare profession for over 30 years and have experience with thousands of physicians. Being so close to the medical profession can make one \"skeptical\" so choosing the right surgeon was extremely important to me. After a good amount of research, I opted for Dr. David Dyer for my lap band surgery and am now happy to say that was an excellent decision. Dr. Dyer is everything you want a surgeon to be. He is well versed in his knowledge of bariatric surgery, has fantastic skills in the OR, but is NOT your typical surgeon when it comes to patient communication. Dr. Dyer is a great communicator and give you all the time you need to ask questions and make sure you are comfortable with every aspect of your care plan. I would highly recommend Dr. Dyer - - he is tops in his profession.rnrnJulie S. Nashville, Tennessee

My first impressionis that Dr. Dyer was a very blunt, to the point, surgeon. That has continued to be my opinion. I really like that. Aftercare seems to be the main focus of his office. He went over all of the facts of each type of surgery and did not try to pressure me to choose a specific one. I would/hve recommended him to a friend.

I really can't complain about much. I had a leak while in surgery. I think Dr. Dyer was more disapointed than I was. I have referred others to him because I trust him. Sometimes I get aggravated with him but I can honestly say it is usually my fault for not following direction. That is not one of my strongpoints. I would have to say his surgical competence is better, but he is also the first to tell you when you have done well. He just wants you to do your best and is let down when you don't.

My first impression-matter of fact and somewhat reserved. I like the matter of fact part-i'd much rather someone be straight with me.rnrnOffice staff was nice, what you would expect.rnrnI would rate Dr. Dyer a 7 on a scale of 1-10. I work with doctors all the time, so for someone to be a 10 they would have to walk on water.

Dr.Dyer explains things in easy to understand terms, and is very willing to answer my questions until I am satisfied that I understand what he is talking about. He is kind, doesn't talk down to a patience, and told me exactly what was going on with me and my surgery. I was very satisfied with Dr. Dyer his staff before my surgery and the effort they made on my behalf to get my approval, and since my surgery with my follow up care the Doctor and his entire staff have only showed caring and concern for my health and and well-being. They are wonderful and I can not say enough good things about them. I had a complication with my surgery and had to stay eight days and was kept informed by the entire staff of the hospital. The hospital staff is excellant and a large portion have had bariatic surgery or are awaiting approval, they know what is going on and just treat you like you are special from the time you walk in until the time you check out. My experience with Dr. Dyer continues to be a very enjoyable and pleasurable one. Aftercare is stressed as much or more than the surgery to stay healthy both mentally and physically, this office and their staff take care of the complete person they do not take your money are leave you out in the cold to fend for yourself. I would recommend this Doctor and his staff to anyone who was wanting quality care both before and after their surgery, they in my humble opinion are the best.

My Bariatric Surgery was on 12/19/07. It was my Christmas present to myself, my wife, and my family. rnrnMy story began three years before I finally had my operation. It was a long trail but well worth it. I had to change doctors just as we were finishing the process at the end of the first year and we could not get all the records needed. My first doctor moved out of state and closed his practice in our area. I had to start all over again. Once we ensured we had all the requirements met, my case was presented to my insurance company. After 5 denials it was finally approved. That was the most trying part of the whole ordeal. Just don't lose faith and don't let a No stop you from trying again. Find out why you were denied in detail and then met the requirements. It may seem as if it is a moving target, but keep shooting and you will finally hit it.rnrnDr. Dyer did a wonderful job in the presurgery consultation, during the surgery process, and in the time since the surgery. He has been quite personable. He certainly has been encouraging and helpful in giving information to make my journey a success.rnrnI like the fact that the entire staff has been so helpful anytime I needed a question asked or other assistance. It certainly is refreshing to have a center where everything truly is provided. The dieticians on staff are knowledgeable and helpful as is the exercise physiologist.rnrnI searched and looked very hard before choosing the Centennial Center for Obesity and Dr. Dyer. I felt I picked the best available not only in our area, but that I could do no better anywhere else. My choice was indeed all I expected and I am very thankful for a medical team as great as Dr. Dyer's.rnrnAs of this morning I have lost 51.4 pounds in just under a month. I never thought this was possible. While it has been an interesting month, I would do it all over again to get the results I am seeing. This is only a tool to help me reach my goal, but it is certainly worth it. The risks were much smaller having the surgery than not having it. I am thankful to be on this side of the process!rn
