TriStar Centennial Medical Center Hospital
My first impression of Dr. Dyer was that he was very knowledgeable about every aspect of the various bariatric surgeries and a very approachable man. He addressed all of our questions regarding every aspect of the surgerys, recovery times - everything. He is amazing! The day of my surgery I was so nervous - he has a very calming presense about him. I was immediately put at ease when he came to me in the pre surgery area - he calmed me and I was ready!! rnrnAfter the surgery he came to me again in thue recovery room and asked if I had any questions - of course my mind wasn't working quite yet so the only question I had was - where is the port? He grinned and showed me where to find it. He went to find my partner and told her how it went and relieved her stress about the surgery. His bedside manor was awesome!rnrnMy first appointment was a couple of days ago. I lost a total of 18 pounds! My incisions are doing great. Most of the butterfly stiches are almost gone and I have started eating chopped foods - I was so excited! After being on a liquid diet for two weeks - I am sure you can imagine! We wore our college tshirts to the appointment. He is an Ole Miss fan! He made sure I knew that Ole Miss was the only team that has beaten the Gators!!rnrnHis office has a structured after care program also! There are dieticians, exercise people and the office staff was amazing with answering all the questions about insurance and times for appointments. They are amazing there! I would definately recommend Dr. Dyer to anyone that is interested in having this surgery! rnrnThe only thing negative I can come up with is that the surgery time was not communicated. I knew the date - but didnt know what time I was to be there until the day before when I did the preadmit at the hospital. rnrn
I saw Dr.Dyer yesterday for my 1 week follow up post op. I am very happy with choosing him for my surgeon. He is very professional and knows what he is doing. He showed me where my port is, because I was too afraid to push and check. I am healing very well and already losing. The morning of my surgery he stopped by after my IV was placed. I teared up right when he walked over and all he had to do was smile. I felt a lot better. The anesthesiologist put me out about 2 minutes after that. I woke up and he had already talked to my family. I went home that night, even though I was groggy. Everyone took very good care of me. I meet with him again in 3 weeks.
As of End Sept 08, Office staff seems wonderful and willing to help. Have heard so many good things about my doctor, Only seen him once and am still deciding what I think. He went over all the procedures and the ins and outs of surgery, explained the aftercare program. I seem to think that he will be wonderful on the competence and bedside manner in which I think both are needed to make a great doctor. rnrnNow, here it is 11-13-2008 and my surgery was Oct 29th, 2008. Dr. Dyer is kind of quite to me... but I believe it is because I am still shy. It takes me a while to really open up to someone and I think that in time we will have great communications. The office staff is still very helpful and willing to listen and answer any questions that I have. So far I have not found any thing to not like about Dr. Dyer. He knows his work and is very good at what he does and is willing to talk or listen to anything you have a problem with. He stresses aftercare all the time and stresses that you stick to the program that has been laid out before you. I could not of chosen a better doctor for this surgery, or a better office staff or Hospital. And if all things are going well, he praises your effort and accomplishments. I can't wait to continue my follow up with all of them.
When I first met Dr. Dyer I was terrified. I had heard so much about him. I was thinking before I went in that this man has the power to decide whether I live or die from my obesity. A friend from my online support group went with me(who is one of his patients) and he knew her well because of what a success story she has been so I felt a level of comfort there. Dr. Dyer took a long time with me to explain every surgery and we talked about my options considering some of the road blocks I was facing. He was kind, pleasant and he has a dry sense of humor which I tend to appreciate. All in all I have had a wonderful experience so far and I look forward to getting to know him a bit better as time passes.....He has a great support sytem set up for his patients. I couldnt have been more impressed with the center and all it offered the patients post op from support groups, a nutritionist who is wonderful, an exercise physiologist and a program director named Kathy Hungerford who I think just hung the moon!! Everyone has been so supportive and helpful and no question I ask is ever wrong. I was denied my first time and failed my psych eval but they were wonderful in supporting me and being available whenever I needed them even though I was not a patient yet....One of Dr. Dyers patients told me that he prays before surgery everyday which gives me so much comfort....So far I give Dr. Dyer and the Centennial staff a 10 overall!!! They have been amazing!!
The first impression I had of Dr. Dyer was I am glad I chose him. He took his time and explained the different surgery's with me and my husband and let me know all the risk that where involved . Dr. Dyer allowed me to ask questions and was very patient to answer them all. He has a great staff that treats you so respectfully, very friendly staff. I was so impressed with not having to set in the waiting room , waiting to get back to see the Dr. , I have never been to a Dr. with this much organization in my life. Dr. Dyer has great bedside manners on emphasizes on the patient totally. He was very polite to my family and informative during surgery. On the scale to 1-10, he definitely is 10 in my book.
I was very impressed with Dr. Dyer at the seminar I attended. After the seminar I did a little futher research and decided he was the one that I wanted. He is very knowledgable and doesn't sugar coat things which is what I like. The office staff at Dr Dyers has been wonderful and some of them have had WLS so they understand what I am going through. I would recommend Dr Dyer to anyone that is thinking of having surgery. He expects you to follow the rules and gives good guidelines so you know what you are suppose to be doing. Dr. Dyer and his staff stresses getting aftercare strongly. The journey doesnt end after the operation is over. Dr. Dyers surgical record is outstanding, and I did get him to crack a smile a couple of times. Overall, I am very pleased with my experiences so far.
DR.OLSEN WAS GREAT. FROM THE FIRST VISIT. VERY GOOD BED SIDE MANNER. I HAD SOME COMPILCATIONS 1ST MONTH, I HAD TO GO BACK TO HOSPITAL COUPLE TIMES, DR.OLSEN WAS VERY THOROUGH. HE STAYED ON ME TO MAKE SURE I DRINKED AT LEAST 64 OZ OF FLUID A DAY. WHEN I LEFT HOSPITAL AND WENT HOME HE HAD HIS STAFF CALL ME TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS OK AND HAS CALLED ME HIMSELF TO CHECK AND GO OVER RESULTS WITH ME. WHICH MAKES YOU FEEL THAT THE DOCTOR REAL CARES ABOUT you and YOUR HEALTH. MY SURGERY WAS ON 07/22/08 AND I Have lost 71 pounds. Doing great now! I'm glad i picked dr.olsen. I have 7 friends at work who picked him also and all feel the same. I was refered to him by my friends and if anyone is thinking about the surgery would advised them tO pick dr.olsen.
Two of my work colleagues had gone to Dr. Dyer for their bariatric surgeries. One had lap-band and the other had Rouen-Y bypass. Both were extremely pleased with his expertise and care and insisted that I needed to have him do my own surgery. I am so glad they did! When I met with him for my pre-surgical consult, he spent probably 45 minutes to an hour with me and acted as if he had all the time in the world to answer my questions and go over my medical information. That really impressed me because I know he is extremely busy with office patients and surgeries, but yet he took his time to make sure of everything with me. He is very thorough and is the consummate professional. I now highly recommend him to others, as my friends did to me! If you choose Dr. Dyer, you are in the best possible hands.
I first went to the WLS Seminar at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN in Feb 2008. Not only was I impressed with Dr Dyers knowledge, I was impressed with his patience with the \"crowd\" of people gathered around him afterwards for a little one on one Q&A time. rnFrom that day on, I decided that Dr Dyer would be my surgeon. I am so glad I did! My consultation with him was sooo informative. He explained procedures, graphs, pictures and statistics...with me, just me. He made sure that I understood everything and ALWAYS asked me if I had any questions. He is as fast paced as any other surgeon could possibly be but he took his time with me and that is impressive. rnWith as many WLS surgery patients as they see in a day, I am sure that it is not hard for his office staff not to feel as excited for each and every patient, but on my post op visit...Joanna acted as if she knew me through my whole journey. She asked me how I was doing, how much weight I had lost?, etc.rnAs far as the hospital stay....Centennial Women's Hospital is one of the most organized facilites.....from the check inprocess to the transporter that took me out to my vehicle. All my questions were answered and I was made to feel at ease. My family even bragged on how informed the staff kept them during my surgery. Thank you to Terri, Pat and Reghan on the 3rd floor...I couldnt have made it without your compassion and care!! I would highly recommend Dr Dyer, his staff and CMC Women's Hospital !rn
