I first met Dr. Nease at one of the seminars. He is a pleasant man, not in a hurry, took time to answer questions. He explained everything in detail in words that we all could understand.rnThe next time I saw Dr. Nease was at the office for my first visit. He was still down to earth, took his time to answer all my questions. He made me aware of all the risks of surgery. The staff is wonderful, they always return my calls within 24 hours, we must remember that they run a busy office and can't answer all calls the moment the call is made. The office staff is great, they try to answer any questions I have. Some of them have had bariatric surgery, so they know what we are going to go through. I was denied by my insurance company over a year ago, and have since got different insurance that approved me for the adjustable lap band. I am scheduled for the surgery on October 1,2008. I talked to Jackie today and she will be sending me a schedule of visits I need to make before the surgery date. I am looking forward to the surgery. I have high blood pressure, diabetes, and back problems and am hoping if I lose weight with this wonderful tool, that I will get to take less medication and will be able to function better.UPDATE: On Oct. 1, 2008 Dr. Nease performed the Realize Band surgery on me. He came to the surgery holding are to check on me, to answer any questions I might have had. After the surgery, he popped in to check on me again and to explain my post-op orders. I still think he is a wonderful physcian.

I first saw Dr. Nease at his required surgery seminar. There were a number of technical issues and the normal PowerPoint™ presentation was not available. I was extremely impressed by the fact that Dr. Nease knew the material well enough to provide an excellent presentation without the normal props. By drawing simple diagrams, he educated his audience quite effectively. At no point during the presentation did Dr. Nease give the impression that he was short on time; in fact, he stayed until every question was answered. He showed much more patience that I possess when he had to keep answering the same question multiple times from different people!rnrnThe next time I saw Dr. Nease was at his office for my initial consultation. He took plenty of time with me and, although we weren't together more than 15 minutes, he waited until he was sure I had no more questions for him. I never felt rushed or hurried.rnrnThe staff at the Cabel Huntington Center for Surgical Weight Control is a fantastic group of people. Many of his staff are weight loss surgery patients themselves and know exactly what I'm going through. They are friendly and competent.rnrnOne thing that seems like a small issue but to me was a very big deal: the seating in his waiting areas and conference room is conducive to BIG people! The chairs are wide and sturdy. It's really refreshing to see attention paid to such a small detail!rnrnFuture patients should understand that this office is very busy. Also, at the present time (August of 2008), they are still recovering from moving their offices from the hospital to a professional building a few blocks away. Additionally, because of the large number of patients, do not expect to call someone at Dr. Nease's office and have them answer the phone right away. Voice mails returned up to 24 hours later is the rule. Nevertheless, phone calls are ALWAYS returned.rnrnDr. Nease puts a huge emphasis on dietary education. During his initial seminar, Dr. Nease explains that he believe diet changes and a more active lifestyle account for 66% of the weight loss realized from surgery. The surgery itself is only a tool that, in and of itself, will only account for losing 33% of excess body weight. His aftercare priority is on making sure his patients learn how to make smart food choices and keep themselves healthy and well-nourished.rnrnRisks of surgery are a fact of life, and Dr. Nease has no problem explaining those risks. Both in his initial public seminars and the initial private consultation, Dr. Nease ensures that the patient understands all of the potential risks and he does it in a way that makes one able to make an informed decision without irrational fear.rnrnI will rate Dr. Nease overall, discuss his surgical competence and review his bedside manner after my surgery, which is currently scheduled for September 8th!

My first impression of Dr. Nease was that he is a real down to earth, caring person. Dr. Nease is very adept at explaining the total weight loss process in a manner so I can clearly understand. All of my questions and concerns are handled in a professional, caring manner. His office staff is most helpful and prompt in returning my calls. I feel that Dr. Nease and staff are completely competent and I recommended them to my daughter.

He one of the most nice Doctor I have seen. He did not look down at, made sure you understood everything. What you to do well. The people that work for him are wonderful and very helpful. I would stand on my head for this man. Make you feel so relax and comfortable, you could tell him anything. Always smiling and joking, so are his employee. They know you by name not by number. The after care has been great, we was told what to do and what to eat. exercise, walk, walk. He explain the surgery very well to me and I am hearing impaired. I rate him 150%. Both bedside manner and surgery was great. they had a hard time getting a IV start so he said take in I do one (their a proper name for it) goes in the neck. explain it and I was not scare, I was very relax and at ease.

Dr. Nease is as wonderful as I had expected. He and his staff were understanding of my desires and made me feel completely comfortable with my choice. They were completely honest with me about the problems I may face once the surgery was complete. They also offer the help of a nutritionist who is compassionate about the patients. Not to mention, his nurse and patient liason are an inspiration to all potential patients. I have had a wonderful, basically pain free experience with this facility. It was well worth my 3 hour drive. I would recommend Dr. Nease to anyone thinking of having surgery!!!

My first impression of Dr. Nease was that he was very personable. The only thing that has changed over the two years I've been banded is that I've come to have even more respect and confidence in his abilities--so much so that my daughter is getting ready to get the lap band and of course, no one but Dr. Nease will do it, because in my opinion, he is the very best.rn My weight loss was slow and I did get a little discouraged, but after two years I am where I want to be. The lap band has given me my life back. I am a 55 year-old preschool teacher and am now able to get up and down with my students and be as active as I need to keep up with the age I teach.rn I would rate Dr. Nease as excellent, both in abilities and manner. He has demonstrated both qualities in the two years I have been his patient. I have talked to many of his other patients and they all agree.

The only problems I had was the first night. The nurse on duty that evening was terrible. My sheets got soaked with blood from my drainage tube and she wouldn't take the time to change my sheets. My sister had to take care of me the first night. I was even left without sheets on my bed for several hours until my sister finally hunted some down and made my bed. After that night though the other nurses were excellent.
