Cabell Huntington Hospital (COE) Hospital
Dr Nease is wonderful! He is very down to earth, talks in terms anyone can understand. Helping the obese seems to be his calling, not just his job. He gives a great seminar where you learn all you ever wanted to know and more about weight loss surgery. It is easy to like him and was very comfortable right from the start. I completely trusted him. Even in the hospital he came to see me everyday to make sure I was comfortable, he even ordered extra lab work I felt I needed to put me at ease. I would recommend him to anyone thinking about weight loss surgery.
My PCP recommended my having weight loss surgery and gave me Dr Nease’s number. I went to his seminar and really liked it. Dr Nease tells it exactly how it is, he is very upfront. He says what will happen and what could happen. He will answer any questions people have and never make you feel like it is a silly question or a waste of his time. I even spoke with him the day of the seminar.
The day of my consultation he made me feel very comfortable and one again went over what surgery was all about, what would or could happen. I could have had surgery a few days before I did, but Dr Nease knew he was going out of town and wanted me to wait so he would be in town “just in case” I needed him after surgery.
The day of surgery Dr Nease came into see me to make sure I was comfortable and asked if I still wanted to go through with it. He has a great sense of humor. He tried to do my surgery LAP but in the end had to open me up. He had explained that this might happen. He went out and personally told my wife why the operation was taking longer so she would not worry. He is a very caring man.
I have not had any complications nor do I think I ever will. The best part is that I am off all my medications. I would recommend Dr Nease to anyone thinking about having wls.
I needed to have weight loss surgery because of my failing health. At a weight of 406 pounds there was very little I could do and was on many medicines. I have two nephews and one niece that had weight loss surgery and saw the difference it made in their lives. Dr Nease was spoken very highly of by members of my community. I was told how experienced he was and called his office to get information on where to start the process.
Dr Nease has a wonderful seminar. He talked to us about obesity, showed us slides and told us about his reasons for becoming a Bariatric surgeon. His dad was obese and very ill. Dr Nease got into bariatrics so others would not have to suffer like his dad did. After the seminar I talked to Dr Nease and his wife. I liked them immediately. Dr Nease is very down to earth, doesn’t talk over your head or make you feel “beneath” him. He even remembered me from the seminar during my first consultation with him.
I am on disability but also insured under my wife’s insurance policy. Her policy had a written exclusion to weight loss surgery. Dr Nease went out of his way to make sure I could get approved through medicade. He really goes the distance in helping people.
At the hospital he would come in and take his time. He was never in a rush. He has great bedside manners.
I have not had any problems, can eat just about anything I want, am off almost all medications and have lost 104 pounds so far. Dr Nease saved my life; I would recommend him to anyone thinking about having weight loss surgery.
I found Dr Nease through an ad in the paper announcing his next seminar. It looked interesting and I knew I had to start some place. I was very impressed with the seminar and Dr Nease. He came across as very genuine and caring. I liked the people there and how serious they were. Dr Nease was very reassuring, explained how the operation worked and how it would change our lives forever. He did not hold anything back, talked in terms that everyone could understand.
The first consultation he wanted to make sure I understood was to come. He makes sure his patients understand that they have to comply things might not go as planned. His food plan is very important. Dr Nease informed me I was in good health and ready for surgery.
I had surgery on September 9th 2002. Dr Nease came in to see me right before surgery to reassure me and tell me to hang in there and things would be over soon. I was not nervous though, I knew I was in great hands. I had complete confidence in him. He really goes the extra length for his patients.
If a person has a choice of having Dr Nease, there is no one else I would recommend. He was so great, made me feel very important and still calls now and then to check up on me. Never once did I feel uncomfortable through the entire experience.
While looking for Bariatric surgeons in my area I came across Dr Nease’s name. He was actually working in the same practice as a surgeon I had been seeing for something else. I went to two of his seminars and found them very well presented. He came across as very knowledgeable and sincere. He talked quite a bit about his dad who had been obese and had died. It really impressed me that so many of his former patients came to the seminars and brought friends or relatives. Many at the seminars spoke highly of Dr Nease.
At my consultation Dr Nease let me ask questions and never hurried me. The day of my surgery we were in the midst of a blizzard. I was very afraid my surgery would be cancelled but it wasn't. Dr Nease came in before surgery to see how I was doing, took his time to make sure I was feeling comfortable. He is a very caring man.
I had no complications and am off all my medications but for 4 of them.
I would recommend Dr Nease to anyone wanting weight loss surgery.
When I decided to have surgery I knew the only surgeon for me was Dr Nease. Not only was I his patient but I also worked for him. He was more then just my employer, he was also my friend.
Dr Nease is very personable and down to earth. He never talks over peoples heads; he is very good at using layman terms so everyone can understand him. His seminars are fantastic and I went to every one of them. It is impossible to walk away from one and not know what you are getting yourself into. His passion for his job is very obvious.
He made sure to visit me before surgery to make sure I was comfortable and not ready to back out of surgery. He also checked on me every day while in the hospital. My surgery was during and ice storm, the hospital was on auxiliary power, I wanted to go home but he would not let me. He knew it was better for me where I was. Dr Nease is one of the most caring doctors I have ever met or worked for. I would recommend him to anyone.
Dr Nease is a very unique individual. If he see’s some one in need he wants to help.
He was my wife’s surgeon when she was suffering from acid reflux. On her last follow up visit I went with her. I knew Dr Nease a bit from my grandson and his son being in pre-school together, but never really “knew” him. My wife had been very impressed with his demeanor, sincerity and Christianity, they even prayed together before surgery. On this visit Dr Nease asked if he could talk to me. We chatted for about 10 to 15 minutes about his dad and how he had been Morbidly Obese. He saw I was in need and wanted to help. He then invited me to one of his seminars. Dr Nease gives a powerful presentation; my wife and I were quite impressed. It was obvious that he has a passion about what he does and it all leads back to his dad.
I made all the necessary appointments and then things got sent in for approval and got a surgery date of October 28th 2002. Dr Nease preformed Lap RNY, I had 6 incisions. By that afternoon I was up and walking. Hardest part for me was the dry mouth. I walked the next day and had protein drinks. I was released on October 30th. I was back at work by November 1st.
Now almost a year later I am off almost all my meds. My High Blood Pressure is gone; the last time I had it checked it was at 135/85. I do take a monthly B12 and daily chewable vitamins and calcium.
I have tons of energy now. Not only can I go shopping with my wife but have been going to Ohio State football games. I cut, split, load and haul firewood. I love to buy clothes, I can go into any store and find something that fits. It is an amazing feeling.
Dr Nease and his staff were fantastic. They all took a personal interest in me and other patients. They genuinely cared and always offered advice. Dr, Nease is a wonderful surgeon who I would recommend to anyone considering weight loss surgery.
I have become quite an advocate for weight loss surgery. It saved my life. I enjoy talking to people about my experience and the benefit it could be to them.
If anyone would like to contact me whether it is about Dr Nease or just the surgery itself I would be glad to talk to them.
I loved Dr. Nease from the very start. He was so passionate about weight loss surgery. He truly wants to help people. His seminar was very helpful, especially for someone like me,who thought bariatic surgery was so far out there,I couldn't even dream of having it done.He gave me hope and the information that I needed to make my life changing decision. He told everyone from the beginning that there were certain risks and to be prepared. He holds nothing back. His office staff was very good to me from the very first visit.I would like future patients to know that this is a very caring doctor and he is such fun to be around.I miss him terribly. My surgery was done on Dec.10,2002 and as of today,Oct.8,I have lost 101 1/2 pounds....Dr. Nease gave me back my life.I only wanted to get healthy and feel good.I never dreamed my life would be so much better. To sum it up, I just adore Dr. Nease and would do it all over again in a heartbeat.I feel like a million bucks and my husband thinks I'm HOT....
Hey Dr. Nease,if you read this, call me or email me.(Elvis has left the building.)
I felt that the nurses were understaffed and unable to keep up with all of the patients assigned to them. They let my epidural run out on Thursday and it took them more than 2 hours after I first notified them that it was out to come in the room and do anything about it. I was very upset. My roommate was a cancer/surgery patient and at times she would have at least 15 visitors on her side of the room, laughing, chattering. I know I couldn't get any rest so I can imagine that she was also unable to rest either. The staff wasn't very assertive in making sure that the "2 visitors per patient" rule was followed at all. I was very disappointment in the care that I received while I was there.
