Barix Clinics - Michigan Hospital
I thought from the first time I met him that Dr. Pop was an ok guy. He was very informative and answered every question honestly and fully. I had to meet with him over the course of a year and half several times as our first insurance company denied my surgery and my husbands company eventually ended that relationship and we ended up with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Probably the least thing about our Doctor and patient relationship I liked was that he was a very busy Doctor and I didnt get to see him but once on my after surgery appts. He did have a since of humor and was cautious as to my risks with my other health issues (pulmanary and heart). On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being Marcus Welby MD I would rate Dr. Pop a high 9.
My first impresson about Dr. Poplawski was he has very dry since of humor, but he was very nice and I felt very comfortable talking to him about my weight and all the various things I have tried over the years to lose weight. I did not feel embarrassed at all with him and he as very patient and answered all of my questions and all the questions my husband had. The staff at Bariatric Weight Loss Center in Ypsilanti Mi are wonderful. The entire staff realy emphasizes aftercare support groups. This support group meets once a month. Dr. Poplawski addressed the risks of having surgery and the risk of being this over weight. The risk of being over weight is far more dangerous than having this surgery in my opinion and in the opinion of three other Doctors I have been to see since making the decision to have this done. I'm very nervous but in the same breath VERY excited for myself and my family.
dr poplawski was wonderful. he answered all
my questions and he even joked around with me. he didnt judge me like alot of people do before they even know me, because of my weight. he explained the whole process including before and after surgery. he also talked about the risks and how i will have to take care of myself before and after surgery. the foods, the exercise, and the after surgery check up. the staff was wonderful. they are all very helpful.
My first impression of Dr.Poplawski was that of an intelligent no-nonsense doctor. He informed of the procedure as well as the level of difficulty. He also told me what to expect pre and post-op. Most importantly he emphasized the importance of movement post-op and the effects on recovery. I would say that I liked him and feel as if I can trust him.
Dr. Poplawski was not only informative, he was exteremely nice. He covered all the bases, and answered my many questions. I feel very confident that when I have my surgery he will do a wonderful job. BTC seems to have a very extensive aftercare program, and I also like the fact that they have their own facilities. The only complaint I have, was the 45 mins. I has to wait in the reception area. I suppose they were running late. However, I would recommend Dr. Poplawski to anyone interested in surgery. I would rate him a 10!
my first impression was that he really cared and knew what he was doing. he informed my husband and myself with all the answers to questions before we had a chance to ask.the office staff were very friendly. we had to wait along time for our appointment though.he was very thourough about the necessity of walking and taking care of yourself. thus losing the weight .he addresed the risks of surgery but i still feel like there has to be more to it. he made it sound like a dream...
My first impression of Dr Poplawski was that he doesn't look like my husband's side of the family so we must not be related. He was very nice and told me that he did not mind in the least that I had to bring my two kids with me because they came with my husband to watch them. His office staff I found a little scatterbrained but chalked it up to it being Friday afternoon. Melanie Edwardtowski was great though, she has had the surgery and works there now. Dr P is very straighforward but didn't seem to care much for the internet. He seems competant and emphasized the aftercare program as the surgery can be a start but it is up to me to make it work etc. We actually have monthly support meetings about 20 mins from my house and I am on the other side of the state. Melanie is the leader of my local group. He told me all about the risks of surgery but emphasized that walking walking walking will drastically reduce most complications. I will update later after my surgery.
Feb 14 01, I am not thrilled with the staff at all. The floor nurses are nice but no one was able to replace my iv when it needed to be done. The have not returned my phone calls even when I ask to speak specifically to the Dr. He is very nice and I like him alot. He seems genuinely interested and always asks about my husband and children. I also like the nutrition staff very much. They always answer their telephones and are always very polite. The nutrionist and the Dr get my highest rating. The nurses on the floor I like except for the IV thing. The technicians in the lab and radiology are very efficient and keep things going smoothly. Even the admissions person was very nice and efficient. The PAT and group practice staff (except for Melanie and the Receptionist with the blond hair, I don't remember her name) are in need of what the Marine Corps calls intensive retraining.
Dr. Poplawski was very kind but direct at first meeting. I liked him from the start. He was a referal from a friend of mine who had only heard of him through the grapevine. I had only met him that one time before my surgery, but over time I just grew to like him more and more, he was the person who was changing my life. While going throught the process to get approved for surgery Dr. Poplawski's staff was wonderful and very understanding with all the hoops I had to go throught to get approved. I have not found anything that I did not like about Dr. Pop.
Dr. Pop emphasizes aftercare as being just as important as the surgery itself, following the guidelines will guarentee success.
Dr. Pop addressed the risks of surgery by going over everyting that could happen but did not happen.
Overall I rate the Dr., Staff and everything a 10 at the BTC in Michigan.
