Barix Clinics - Michigan Hospital
I have had two seperate sets of reconstructive surgery with Dr. DiNick. One at Providence Hospital and the other in Ypsi at the Bariatric Clinic. He is the most wonderful surgeon. I am 49 years old and I dont want to look 20, but after loosing 167lbs I needed to feel even better...and I DO!! Keep in mind that Dr. DiNick is also a "craniofacial" surgeon..which makes him even more special at his abilities.
Overall the hospital was excellent and the staff were great! I had an issue with two individuals but nothing that couldnt be overlooked. One of the respitory therapists was curt and rude but I later found out she was a temp and not part of the staff. My time with her was limited. As for the other person, my complaint is that my husband was not allowed in the pre-testing room with me due to "sensitive" questions being asked. In the 20 minute interview only one sensitive question was asked but there was a great deal of information that I would have liked my husband to hear, such as after care, etc.
The parking situation was a bit screwy as the buildings front entrance was not open on weekends. We were not told this and my family and guests each had to stumble on to the guard shack to let them in to visit. Prior warning would have been greatly appreciated.
These issues not withstanding, my care was excellent and the staff were nothing but professional and extremely sensitive and helpful during my recovery. I would definately recommend this facility to anyone.
Wonderful first interview with Dr. Poplawski. He was very informative and matter of fact yet very personable. He doesn't say just what you want to hear but what is fact about your questions - I appreciated his candor about the procedure and the risks. He was very self assured and confident while not being smug about his ability/talent, if you know what I mean,. He was totally knowledgable about the procedure and completely put my husband and I at ease during the interview.
His staff was great, again informative of the process and so compassionate about all of our concerns. Nothing was left "not covered".
Dr & staff all stressed aftercare and even meetings ahead of the procedure to expose yourself to those that have been there. We have extreme confidence that we have the right surgeon and hospital for the best outcome.
Update 10-6-03 Found out today my new surgeon will be Dr. Poplawski from BTC. I get to meet him tomorrow.

6-26-03 I met my surgeon, Dr. Batay-Csorba today for the first time for my consultation. I have to admit, I was nervous going in, but Dr. B-C (for lack of wanting to type his name out every time) was wonderful... He was very nice, professional, and answered all of my questions (and the questions my skeptical friend had as well).

His staff members were wonderful, very warm, and I felt comfortable with everyone. I wouldn't say that there was anything about him that I didn't like. He definitely stressed the importance of aftercare, and all of the precautions they take... It was a tad bit overwhelming, but in general very informative.

I would rate him a ten out of ten :)

UPDATE: 8-5-03 I found out last week that Dr. Batay won't be my surgeon, as he's leaving BTC in Ypsi to start up a BTC in Arizona. So who will my Dr. be? I've got no idea. I'm so totally bummed.
