Aurora Sinai Medical Center Hospital
the nurses i had the whole 3 days i was there sucked horribly. they were always half our to 45 minutes late with my pain medicine which made pain management impossible which made it hard to heal. i always had to call them for pain meds and i'd start calling them 15 minutes before it was due so that i could get it on time. the very first day they didn't realize my morphine pump was broke till my friend (who is a nurse) was trying to help me figure it out in my hazy state had to tell the nurse it wasn't dispensing any medication. and the nurse was like yeah i guess so. on my last two days during the day i had the same nurse and she was so lazy. she would not get up of the chair unless she had to. she was a good candidate for WLS because when she got to my room her breathing made her sound like she was dieing. i was waiting over and hour after the time she was supposed to give me pain meds and discharge me to finally get to go. the pca's were a lot nicer and kinder than the nurses were but thats because when it came to pain there wasn't a whole lot they could do about. i didn't know walking would help with all the pain, no one encouraged me to get up and move and that might ease the pain. all in all it was a horribly painful experience
About 90 % of the staff on the regular floor was horrible. The same day of my surgery when I got back to my room, I had to go to the bathroom and the staff wouldn't help me get out of bed, they told me that their policy was for us to do it ourself. My IV would ring for an hr. before someone would come to fix it. At one point my Pain pump ran out of medication and I had to wait 35 min. (rang 3 times) before they refilled it so I could push my button again. My family and I had a talk with the Nursing Supervisor on day 2 and told her what had happened the previous hrs. The care changed after that-then the care was good. You should not have to complain to get the care that you deserve. There were a couple aides that were good and one nurse. I am a nurse and I told the 3rd shift nurse that I have never been treated this way before. I would never go back to this hospital unless I had absolutely no other choice!
