Atlanta Medical Center (COE) Hospital
Atlanta Medical exceeded my expectations. I had planned on being in a room with another patient, instead I got a private room, which was excellent! Very clean, very well set up, and had a beautiful view. They are in the middle of doing some upgrades, and replacing of some bad ceiling tiles amongst other things, but still a great place to have surgery and recovery! Keep up the excellent work!!!!!!!
The transportation was not good. When I was sent to the xray lab to do the testing for leaks (along with other gastric bypass patients), transportation took forever to take us back to our rooms. They never returned, so the guys who worked in the xray lab took us back. We were in pain and it was miserable to sit in that wheel chair feeling the way I felt.
Well...honestly, it sucked. Not only if my family was not there I dont think I would have got any help from anyone. The night RN that I had bitched the whole time that she had a bad back, was slow to get me any meds. Would not get me a johnie that fit me just let me lay there with one just laying on top of me. The next morning I asked for another BIGGER one she went and got one but then stripped me naked with my door open and when I told her that my door was open she said "oh is it" and still pulled at my clothes to strip me. Day nurses where ok but when my family went home I never saw them again. I begged for some pain meds and they say they are coming but be prepared to wait 1 hour before they come back. Not once did any of them walk me what soever. The BATHROOMS suck there, the door to the bathroom was so small that I had to turn sideways to get in and it still scraped against my incision. No one came to help me wash up or ever change my bed the whole time I was there. So please go with a family member or friend to help you around and be your advocate!
