Albany Medical Center Hospital Hospital
Unfortunately I waited till 14 months after my surgery to update my profile. So my memory has faded quite a bit about the EXACT care I received. Not to mention they have you pretty drugged up the first couple days to alleviate the pain. If anyone has a question as to why I rated one of the questions the way I did, just send me a e-mail :)
I felt that they were very pleasent and accomodating. I mostly had good nurses, Sue, who I had for two full days was outstanding. The others did all they needed to do. Always responded to my call button quickly, got my pain meds when I asked. They were helpful and encouraging. No problems with visitors or anything else for that matter. I saw my doctor every day and had all my questions answered. Sometimes the hall was a little noisy at night but I just closed the door and that was fine with everyone. My roomate (another obesityhelp member) was wonderful and our room was extremely clean. Everytime we took a little walk from bed they would be sure to change the bedding for us, helped with showers, even offered to wash my hair if I needed help. I knew I was in good hands and there is absolutely no better place if you experience a serious complication.
I gave a poor rating for restful quiet. It wasn't the hallway noise that bothered me. 1 day post-op I received a new roommate who wanted to keep the bright overhead light on, talk on the phone after 11p, Keep telly on all night, called for the nurses to take her to the bathroom to pee when she was catheterized and didn't need to go to the bathroom. I asked for another room but was discharged, thank God.
