I had the sleeve surgery on March 8, 2016 by Dr. Wilhelmy. I would recommend this to any one! This has been such an life changing event and even though I'm only 2.5 weeks out I'm down 23 pounds. The staff was very nice, did everything to make you comfortable and was very clean. If you are considering getting this surgery at this hospital please do it, you will not regret it.

I had my gastric sleeve done by Dr. Wilhemy 6.5 weeks ago. I started out at 311 pounds and am already down to 264 pounds. I was wearing 44" waist jeans and am down to 38" waist jeans as of today. :) Everyone throughout the entire process was amazing. Everything was explained in great detail before the surgery began by Dr. Wilhemy an all his staff. They went out of their way to make me very comfortable. If you have any reservations about having surgery, don't. I would do it all over again and I would chose Dr. Wilhemy and Mexicali Bariatric all over again. I am happily anticipating a longer life to enjoy with my family. My blood pressure meds have already been cut in half and I fully expect to not need my c-pap machine within the next few months. This is a real life changer. I would be happy to answer any questions from anyone contemplating having surgery.
Hey everyone!
I just wanted to share my amazing experience with Dr. Wilhelmy and MBC. I got a sleeve on Oct 7 and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. Everyone was so amazing, punctual, professional and caring. I similarly read about 100 experiences before making the decision to do it, and if that's where you are right now, I really recommend continuing. All of the amazing things you read are true. My stepbrother came with me, and I do recommend a companion, it can get a little lonely (they have a big couch, pillow and blanket for them, plus the hospital food is amazing).
I'm a 23-year-old medical student in Kentucky, so I completely understand how ridiculous it feels to genuinely consider bariatric surgery in Mexico. But it was an amazing experience, I never felt unsafe or unreasonably uncomfortable (it is surgery, so there is pain, etc.) But I did it over our fall break and went back to school the next week!
I do want to mention that my body had a rough time recovering from surgery, but that had nothing to do with a botched surgery or anything like that at all. I just kept getting nauseous and dehydrated and my liver enzymes went through the roof for whatever reason (despite negative hep panels). I also had 33 days of heavy vaginal bleeding. But honestly I think my body was just freaking out about not getting food. But even considering that, I managed to stay enrolled in medical school, and by November I felt AMAZING. And still do. I was 225 on October 7th and currently weight 160 now. But keep in mind, it's surgery, not magic. Although even as a future physician myself, some days I feel like it is magic.
DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can never thank enough for what Dr. Wilhelmy and Mexicali Bariatric Center has done for me... I had my sleeve done on August 25th, 2015, and it's been only a short matter of time and I feel so very close to my goal weight already. The doctor answered all my doubts, and even the staff members and nurses were so very kind and would answer any question that I had. I had an amazing experience with them. They would constantly check up on me to see how I felt and if I needed something. They are truly interested in my wellbeing and how I progress with my successful sleeve! I'm glad I decided to have my surgery with Dr. Wilhelmy, not only I have a comfortable sleeve, but I only have very small and neat marks from the laparoscopic procedure. Five stars from me!
My VSG was done 10\13\2015 with Dr. Wilhelmy. I am extremely pleased with my pre and post-op care. Dr. Wilhelmy kept telling me this was the best decision I have made for my life and I completely agree. Two members of the bariatric team have been sleeved themselves and their sympathy toward the transition was obvious.
I had VSG by Dr. Wilhelmy on 8/5/15. It was a very good experience. All the doctors are very pleasant and there if you need them. The hospital is extremely clean and spacious. I was comfortable with my surroundings as well as my travel partner. The hospital cafeteria is awesome! I also had a chance to view the operating room and procedures before I had the surgery. I was happy with their techniques which was important to me since I am a nurse. The whole process was very easy. I would recommend this facility and surgeons to anyone.
The only downfall was the language barrier to express my needs. But when Carla or Yolande are their it is no problem.
Mexicali Bariatric Center provided the best hospital experience!!
A relative referred me to MBC after she had a successful Gastric Sleeve procedure. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful. The facility was very clean and the room was nice. It is obvious that they are invested and believe in patient care. The whole process was extremely well organized and everything was explained clearly. I didn't have to worry about a thing.
I was very impressed by how often I saw the Drs. and how available the staff was. When I requested medications I received them within 5-10 minutes (When my husband had gall bladder surgery in Gilbert, AZ it took at least 30 minutes to get meds he requested, and we almost never saw a Dr.).
It was nice to hear the Drs. share about their own surgery experiences, and to hear their encouragement about how successful my results will be. Dr. Wilhelmy was so warm and approachable, and the staff was supportive and encouraging. The environment overall was very positive. I would definitely recommend MBC to anyone.
I gotta be honest here i was scared to death to have surgery and then to have it in MEXICO after hearing horror stories of Mexico in general but i was referred by a good friend she had the lap band there i had the sleeve she said "trust me there wonderful doctors your not gonna regret it" and i now can honestly say i have no regrets at all Dr. Wilhelmy Dr. Campos Dr.Beltran were beyond Amazing as was Nina ,Yolanda,Carla it took me a year of lots of saving and lots of thought and research to finally say i gotta do this for ME...you see i Had diabetes and sleep apnea ya i was dying a slow death at least i felt that way i couldn't believe how attentive the doctors were i seen all 3 two times a day that doesn't happen in the states and the nurses were so nice and the cleanliness of the hospital was impeccable i am now 11 days sleeved i feel great and have yet had to take my diabetes medication my advice to anyone wanting to have weight loss surgery do your homework its along journey but if you want the best doctors with lots experience in Bariatric go see DR.
