Michael Schuhknecht Bariatric Surgeon MD
My first impression of Dr. Schuhknecht was what a kind and careing man!
It has been one week since my surgery and I am do to go back to see him tomorrow but I still feel he is wonderful.
The office staff couldn't be more helpful.
I haven't found anything as of yet that I dislike about him.
He tells you what to expect from begining to end and will answer any questions you have. He will not do surgery if he feels it is too dangerous for you.
He emphasizes aftercare as being the key to success.
He does have a stuctured aftercare program.
He explains everything that can go wrong and that ALL surgery is a risk.
I would rate him as an A+
Both are great!
Like I said I haven't been back to the office since my surgery so as time goes on we will see!
Dr. Schuhknecht is a very forward, funning and serious Doctor.
As I see him more and more and talk to him I enjoy him and have 100% trust in him.
The staff is understanding and willing to help.
Never judge by first impressions.
He is 100% truthfull.
100%
Yes
Focouses on patients attending his seminars.
A perfect 10 Doctor.
All of the above.
<p align="left">I FIRST THOUGHT I WOULD JUST BE TAKING UP HIS TIME BECAUSE I WAS TURNED DOWN FROM B.C. BECAUSE I WAS A HEALTH RISK.HE TOLD ME THAT I WAS A HEALTH RISK BECAUSE OF ALL OF MY MEDICAL PROBLEMS,BUT THEY COULD BE FIXED,AND HE COULD DO IT,SO I STARTED GOING TO THE MEETINGS IN APRIL OF 02 AND IN JULY I HAD MY SURGERY AT THAT TIME I WAS AT 440 I AM NOW AT 309 AND I CAN TELL YOU THIS I JUST LOVE MY DR.HE IS THE BEST PERSON TO COME INTO MY LIFE BESIDES MY HUSBAND.HE MAKES ME FEEL GOOD ABOUT MYSELF AND THAT HE IS AS CLOSE AS A PHONE CALL AWAY.
HIS OFFICE STAFF IS THE COOLEST THEY WILL HELP YOU IN ANY WAY THEY CAN,JUST CALL THEM.
THERE IS NOTHING ABOUT DR.SCHUHCKNECHT THAT I DON'T LIKE HE IS A WONDERFUL DOCTOR EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE SOMEONE LIKE HIM ON THEIR SIDE.
EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW HE IS DROP DEAD HANDSOME AND BE PREPARED WHEN YOU FIRST SEE HIM HE HAS A KNOCK OUT SMILE.
HIS AFTERCARE IS GREAT,HE COMES TO SEE YOU OFTEN AND HE GOES IN TO GREAT DETAIL ABOUT WHAT YOU SHOULD DO AT HOME.
HE TOLD ME THAT THERE ARE RISK IN THIS SURGERY BUT THERE ARE MORE RISK IN STAYING BIG,AND THAT HE WILL DO EVERYTHING IN HIS POWER TO MAKE SURE I AM ALRIGHT AND HE DID.
AS FAR AS RATING HIM HE IS OFF THE CHARTS HE IS WONDERFUL I CAN'T TELL YOU THAT ENOUGH,AND AS FAR AS A SURGEON GOES I WOULDN'T HAVE ANYONE ELSE FOR ANY KIND OF SURGERY.HE'S THE MAN ALSO I WAS AT RIVERVIEW HOSPITAL IN DETROIT AND THEY WERE A GREAT BUNCH OF PEOPLE I WAS TAKEN REALLY GOOD CARE OF.
THANK YOU

If I had to describe Dr. Schuknecht with one word it would have to be "godsend". I truly believe this man was sent into my life by God. His easygoing manner, no nonsense approach was just what I needed. He fully explained all the pro's and con's of each surgical intervention and gave the information in a down-to-earth manner.
I was very impressed with his reputation and his gentleness. He is in Chicago training the doctors there how to do RNY Micropouch surgery and he really knows his stuff!!Cori Centers has been around a long time, but mostly in New York and Michigan. But they are spreading more nationwide. They developed the RNY Micropouch which is now considered the GOLD standard in Bariatric surgery.
I was the first one that has ever asked if he was gentile with our insides. He laughed and said that that is necessary so we aren't any more sore than we will already be from surgery.
His staff, Jill, has had RNY and totally understands my concerns and they answer any questions immediately. Aftercare is highly emphasized and we talked a lot about it and I was given a complete book to take home with all information in it that I could ever possibly need.
He has done over 2500 micropouch surgeries and is very skilled. He discussed all risks and explained everything.
He does have a structured aftercare program and sees his patients 4 times during the first year. He will see you more if you need it. He also has long distance patients and works with their PCP's.
The hospital they use in Chicago is really nice and it is small, which I like.
I didn't experience anything negative in my consult or with the way they handled everything for me. And since I was traveling away from home to do everything, they set up my appointments for me. I have a personal rep that handles everything. Theresa Johnson.
So far, I have nothing negative to say about him or his staff. I will re post after surgery and update then.
First impression is that he knew what he was talking about and that he was confident in his abilities as surgeon. My impression has not changed over time. The office staff is friendly and efficient. The thing I liked least is that he was not in the office for my first visit after surgery. He has scheduled support group meetings. He was very straight forward when it came to describing the risks of surgery. I would rate him excellent. Both surgical competence and bedside manner are great.
Dr. Schuhknecht is awesome. He is there for the patient. He goes out of his way to do a top performance as a physician. He listens. He talks with you. He is tops. I thank God for directing me to him. I was one of his most difficult cases because he had to revise a previous surgery I had done and then do my gastric bypass. He still stuck it out and made my surgery successful. Hats off to Dr.S. He is the greatest!
