Michael Schuhknecht Bariatric Surgeon MD
Michael Schuhknecht is a very nice person and a very talented surgeon. My first impression of him was that he truly cares about his patinces. The office staff was helpful and kind. There wasn't anything I did like about him. That he is a caring man you can ask him anything and he will give you and honest answer. The aftercare is structured and they have a hotline you can call at anytime for help. They address the risks of surgery as honestly as they could. As you know everyone is different and some people do great and some have very serious problems. I would give Dr. Schuhknecht and his staff the highest rateing there is and I would recommend him to anyone interested in the surgery. Every thing about my surgery and aftercare is and was great.
Dr. Schuhknecht seemed very knowledgable about the proceedure which held true throughout the process. The staff was wonderfull I was very stressed before my surgery and they really helped to make this time as easy for me as possible. i would have liked a bit more one on one time with the doctor but overall my need were meet. The aftercare seem to be very important in the healing process which is very highly urged to be followed. We were given packages of infomation plus a one on one with a dietitian at the office on our frist followup visit. I am still going through the aftercare program so that remains to be seen. The risk of surgery were addressed very specifically listing the pro and cons of this surgery. I feel Dr. S. surgical competence was great I am healing wonderfully I only saw him one time in the hospital but he was very caring and concered about my well being. So far this experience has been a good one.
My first impression of Dr. Schuhknecht was that he was very thourough in his presentation and that he might be a fun Dr. to hve. I was right. He loves to joke around and enjoys talking with his patients.
The staff at that CORI Center is friendly and caring. Should you decide to use the CORI Centers you'll find them very good at answering any questions you may have. They will contact your insurance company and take care of all the paper work and let you know just what is or isn't covered.
I can't find anything that I didn't like about either the Dr.s or the staff at CORI Centers. I will say this, Dr. Schuhknecht, pronounced Shoot nick, is caring and freindly. His explanation of the surgery and other options were covered in detail and all the risks were discussed in detail. If there were any questions of any sort, they were addressed and answered.
I think that Dr. Schuhknecht and Dr. Wood, are borth very conpetent at what they do and their caring ways give them both wonderful bedside manners. I can't say enough about my experiece with the CORI Centers treatment of me. Also, Harper Hospital in Detroit where I went for the operation, gave me wonderful treatment and their explantions of what to expect in the future with my eating program was through and informative. I have absolutly no complaints about my care or treatment from either establisments.
Doctor Schuhknecht explains everything very well, you will know the risks and the benefits. Be prepared for a delightful sense of humor. The Cori center staff is great. When shopping for a surgeon, make sure you find one who has done extensive surgeries, such as Dr. Schuhknecht and Dr. Wood. P.S. Wood is so much easier to spell than Schuhknecht, but don't let that sway you!
Dr.Schuchnecht was a wonderful doctor. He sat down and explained every procedure, what to expect, etc. He answered all of my questions in terms that I could understand. I had no pain or discomfort while I was in the hospital. His office staff are the sweetest bunch of nurses, dietician, etc. that a person could possibly find anywhere. The only thing that I disliked, was that he was so busy with meetings and out of town interviews that he is hard to contact in person. If anyone is looking for a surgeon, I would recommend him or his partner Dr. Wood. They work out of Harper
Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. I would like to rate both doctors a 10. They are both just marvelous. The doctor explained everything in detail. I knew exactly what
my risks were and chances of complications were.
Surgical competence is the most important.
I think Dr. Schuhknecht is awesome! He's very direct in explaining WLS and the positives and negatives of the surgery. He's really very funny and down to earth, too!
Dr. "S"'s staff at CORI Center in Warren, Michigan was very cordial and helpful, from the reception person to my PCC, Raeha. I feel like I've developed a life-long friend in her.
I highly recommend Dr. "S" to any patient seeking WLS.
Dr. "S" and CORI Center are very adamant about aftercare and following the instructions carefully.
I think both surgical competence AND bedside manner are very important, and Dr. "S" really has both!
My Doctor Hmmmm, Wonderful of Course. My impression. Handsome, intelligent, experienced, compassionate, especially funny.
My impression has not yet changed as of 8/19/04. The office staff is for the most part very pleasant but I think overworked with paper work . If I liked anything least it is the length of time waiting at the office for a scheduled apt. I personally would schedule better but this is probably due to the No of patients He has. I would like future patients to know that he will take very good care of you,I researched heavily before making My decision. The manual we were given and oportunities for after care and their program are spectacular. there are post opp after care programs. I would rate the experience a 9.5 In both respects sugical competence and bedside manner are both great.
