As soon as I left Dr. Roe's office I called my daughter on my cell phone from the parking lot and told her "he's the one". I was absolutely blown away by the professionalism and kindness of Dr. Roe and his assistant Dawn. Dr. Roe was very thorough in his presentation, was willing to take whatever time was necessary to make sure I totally understood the entire procedure - risks and all. He even suggested that I see another surgeon - but I already had. Dawn asked me to let her try to get insurance approval, but I was absolutely sure that my insurance would not pay for it - but low and behold she got my approvel in 3 days. Dawn is totally awesome - I hate that word but it fits. I cannot imagine anyone not having absolute confidence in Dr. Roe - he is wonderful and I just can't say it enough. I honestly believe he and Dawn both walk on water - they are beyond reproach. I went to his support group and my decision was again reinforced. He has a great sense of humor and includes any and all family members in any and all discussions and visits if you want. He even talked to my 6 year old granddaughter when she came to the office with me and addressed the "concerned look" that she had on her face. He even shook her hand when we left - I liked that and so did she. On a scale of 1-10 Dr. Roe is a 100 - I could go on and on, but it would be redundant. If you are considering surgery, Dr. Roe and Dawn are the people to see - you will be convinced.
Dr. Roe is a compassionate doctor, who has a love for assisting obese patients. He has a sense of humor. He is personable, caring, very informative and dedicated to his mission of getting us (WLS Patient's) healthy. His staff is tremendous! Dawn is the best in the world!!! Future patients will love Dr. Roe & his staff. They are all very professional, friendly and sweet. Dr. Roe emphasizes aftercare - he has monthly support groups that you may attend - these are very informative. Dr. Roe is straight-forward with the issues dealing with the risks of this surgery. I rate Dr. Roe & his fine staff a 10+. Don't know about the surgical competence or bedside manner as of yet - still waiting for insurance approval & surgery date:O) Good Luck!
I met with my surgeon, Dr Roe, on July 16, 2002. My first impression of him was that he was a caring, competent, very knowledgeable doctor. His staff was awesome. They were all very nice and helpful. The were very caring. Dr Roe has an excellent aftercare program. His power point presentation was informative and very well put together. In that presentation he addressed the pros, cons, risks of surgery. He also emphasized the major change in your life after surgery. I would rate Dr Roe as excellent. He has both surgical competence and a great bedside manner!
Dr Roe and his staff are INCREDIBLE!!! It's the first time I've seen a medical professional who hasn't made me feel awful about my weight and that I'm a horrible person because I'm fat.
Dawn has got to be one of the hardest working people I have ever met. I was expecting my insurance approval to take a month, maybe two and I heard back in under two weeks.
I'm very much looking forward to my surgery and beginning my new life. I'm scheduled for August 7th, 2002.
I received a referral from my PCP for Dr. Kuldeep Singh. I called the office and I was told he was not currently taking any appointments because he was in the process of going into private practice. I was told they would send a package out to me and I would be contacted later when the office was ready to take appointments. I wasn't comfortable with this answer but that's what she said.
After a week passed and I heard and saw nothing from his office. I contacted Dawn at Dr. Roe's office. She was very helpful and made several efforts to get back in touch with me and answer my questions. I am scheduled for my initial consultation in a couple weeks. I can't wait! I guess I am finally on my way.

Had my initial consultation today, Dr. Roe and his staff are wonderful. I ran into some traffic issues and was 30 minutes late. They were so understanding. Me and another portential patient had a slide show and Q&A with Dr. Roe. I enjoyed having another positive person there. She had made up her mind prior to the visit; as I had, this is the healthy life change, we want. Afterwards, I had a private consult with Dr. Roe. He is really nice, laid back and easy to talk to. I think this is the beginning of a wonderful relationship. I met another lady, Linda S, in the waiting room and she made me feel really comfortable too. She was 5 weeks out, lost 25 lbs. Good things Ahead!!

Called Dr. Roe's office to follow up with Dawn, sent my letters to her last week. Today I found out my paperwork has been submitted, now waiting for approval. Pray for Me!!!

Dawn and Carefirst are awesome! I didn't have to anything. I have been approved and have a date!!!! thirteen days to the rest of my life.
My first impression of Dr. Roe was very positive. He is the only Doctor I have ever talked to that did not make me feel stupid. He knows what he is doing and I feel he does it well. I'm not sure but I think him and his staff walk on water when no one is watching...they are miracle workers. They explain everything in detail, and make sure you understand the risk of surgery. They make you feel very comfortable with asking questions. I'm amazed at how well they work together, there are three people that work like one. They each know what the other is thinking, and that makes the whole experience go smooth. I did not want to attend the support group meeting, but I had to, and now I'm glad I did. Dr. Roe would not do the surgery until I attended the meetings. I found it very informative, and was very happy to hear about the experience of the post-ops, and all of the comments regarding their surgery. I was very surprised to see Dr. Roe attending and answering questions and concerns. He joins in on the conversations just like everyone else. If I had to give a negative response to anything it would be the distance I have to travel..BUT..it is worth it. My surgery dater is June 13, and I will update after that.
My first impression of Dr. Roe was great he has a sense of humor, while waiting for Dawn to finish up on the paperwork he looked in and said bet you dont know wo I am? I was very much at ease and glad they had asked for my husband to come in also he had been waiting in the car. .and had not expected to be involved at that point the presentation was clear and he was good about any questions we may have .He is a confident surgeon and I am completly sure hes the one I want to do this procedure. His assistant Dawn asked when I would like to plan the surgery and went right to work to acheive this . My appt. was on May 24th.I seen the nutritionist on the 29th as well as asupport meeting that day too. On the 30th she called to say I had on ok. from insurance .And asked again about when I told her as soon as possible even though the hospital would not be Good Sam but Union Memorial I felt he was the one to judge that and she went to work on a date. Well Joan called today with a date of June 19th. After reading all the hassles and long waits I have seen on the message board I feel very lucky to have all this transpire in a 5 week period . Now to cancel the other Dr. in august and Dec.
My first impression was a good one. The staff was friendly and down to earth. They seemed very organized. Dawn really seemed to know her stuff about insurance issues and helping you get improved. Dr. Roe gave a slide show and discussed the risks and benefits of surgery with me...overall so far I feel that everything went very well . I will update with anymore feedback.
My first impression of Dr. Roe was that he was very down to earth. He had on black jeans and a collared shirt with a tie. In all actuality it made me comfortable that he did not come off like a business only doctor. Some people might like that but it makes me uncomfortable. His office staff was very kind and knowledgable. Dawn was nice. It was like talking to a relative. She genuinely cares about what she is doing. She also said that she might be able to get me approved in about a week and a half. This is crazy, I can't believe how fast this is coming into play. Future patients should know that at the consultation you will not be alone, you will talk to Dawn and get weighed then you and whomever else is there (I was with one person) will go into Dr. Roe's office and look at a 30 minute long powerpoint presentation that is quit informative. He addressed all of the risks as well as facts and the procedures in use and why the mini-lap he performs is better than the laparoscopic procedure. I told myself firmly that I would not get an open incision but then I listened to what he had to say and I trust him. I am very comfortable with the procedure he performs. I would give Dr. Roe and his staff a 8 out of 10. I will give a 10 when I have the procedure and all is well. :) He seems to be a great surgeon and has the references to prove it.
