My first impression of Dr. Roe was that he was a little unconventional, his powerpoint presentation was well done and informative. He is quite confident in his abilities as a surgeon. That scared my friend who came with me to the presentation. The only office staff I met was Dawn, and she was very nice. Overall, I think he is a nice Doctor who is confident in his abilities and seems truly interested in prolonging the quantity and quality of people's lives.
Now that I have had the surgery I would like to say that I am so glad Dr. Roe did my surgery. In fact, I believe he saved my life. Dr. Roe is a dedicated, caring person. He follows up with his patients, coming in once a month for the first year after surgery. Even though I had complications after my surgery, I am still very happy with my choice and would do it again in a heartbeat. My complications were not due to Dr. Roe, and I believe that he is a superb surgeon.
Dr. Roe is a kind beautiful man who shoots straight from the hip and tells you straight up what the risks are. I feel the same about him today as I did the day I met him. The office staff is compassionate, caring and hard working (especially Dawn). There is nothing I don't like about Dr. Roe, He is truly a beautiful Human Being. He is honest! He has a very structured after care plan. He is such a normal guy, he just happens to be a brillant surgeon.
Dr.Roe is a man you must talk to a couple of times before you really "know Roe" . He is very sure of himself, straight to the point, and doesnt hold any thing back. After sitting through one of his powerpoint presentations and you still feel you want the surgery, then it is for you. Because he explains in detail all of the risks. He has an apeal to him that just makes you feel comfortable with him doing the surgery on you. His competance is relevent through his demeanor. As for his staff, they are the backbone of this operation and continue to bring support to there patients long after the surgeery is complete. They display, along with pre and post-op patients a feeling of friendship and family that has and is makeing it through a life altering time in there life. Overall I would recomend Dr.Roe and Dawn and staff to any one!! I say Dr.Roe and "DAWN" Because she truely is a gem that keeps that office shinning through tough times and good .You can rely on Dawn.
Dr. Roe is a very upfront person. He gave me all the information that I needed at his powerpoint, and has continued to be there to answer any concerns I've had. He is good for me and I feel very blessed to have found him as my surgeon and to provide his skillful hands in giving me this tool. His staff is very helpful. Dr. Roe does not try to convince you to have surgery. If anything, he makes you certain that its what you want to do. He visited me each day while I was at the hospital and has scheduled aftercare appointments and a great support group. He is an excellent surgeon and I would definitely rate him 11 out of a scale of 1-10. He talks with me and he is very skilled, so I would say he has great bedside manner and is very surgically competent. Can't go wrong with him! I do wish that he could remember each of his patients, but what can you expect?
On Feb.12th I went to the seminar given by DR.Roe. He was not what I expected. Dressed all in black someone asked if he was the doctor. He answered Yes and he was a white coat wearing kind of doctor. That caught my attention. He was very forth coming with all the pros and cons of the surgery. He did not hesitate answering any questions put to him, even on his mortiality rate. By the end of the Power Point I knew he was the one for me.
Dr. Roe was referred to us by a friend who had Dr. Roe perform Gastrick Bypass Surgery on her in 2002. We first met Dr. Roe in July 2003 when we attended a seminar given by him explaining the procedure. We immediately liked him. He was very upfront inexplaining the operation and the risks of the operation. Every time we contacted his office staff, they were very helpful and very friendly. Dr. Roe performed the surgery on my boyfriend on January 6, 2004 and my surgery on February 24, 2004. Neither one of us suffered from any complications and are well on our way to loosing weight. We had been researching the surgery for about 3 years before actually doing it. Dr. Roe had an excellent surgical reputation and we would recommend him highly. Also, the friend who recommended Dr. Roe to us is a nurse. His office staff goes out of their way to assist any patient with any type of problem. At first I didn't think I would be approved for the surgery because I didn't have numerous comorbid conditions. Dr. Roe's staff is so used to dealing with the health insurance companies that I was approved for the surgery 1 1/2 weeks after the paperwork was submitted by Dr. Roe's office. I will be grateful to Dr. Roe and his staff for the rest of my life. As far as aftercare goes, we are still going back to Dr. Roe for our post-op followup visits. I don't know how long we will continue this because Dr. Roe's office is an hour's drive each way for us.
I liked Dr. Roe from the very first time I met him at the initial presentation at Good Samartain Hospital. I was also impressed on my second meeting with him. Dr. Roe took his time with me during my initial consults. He clearly explained the proceedure to me. About a week before the surgery I saw him again .I was very nerous. He spoke to me with confidence and reassured me. On my first post-op visit I still found Dr. Roe to be attentive and willing to answer any and all questions that I had about my post-op care.
My first impression of Dr. Roe was that he was extremely honest, He doesn't sugar coat anything. He also has a wonderful sense of humor, which I absolutely love! I've had my initial consultation with him, and I feel that my husband really took alot from that meeting. My husband has been very sceptical over my decision to have WLS. His office staff is very professional, and they make sure everything is in order before you can proceed. I feel that I will be in excellent hands, and I am very confident with my decision to have Dr. Roe as my surgeon.
my surgeon was dr roe in baltimore. he did a good job.he shoots straight with you about the operation.office is small. the staff is very personal and nice.monthly visits for the first year postop i rate him a very good surgeon. he did make it clear a side effect of this operation is death. each visit dr roe is very encouraging.at first he seemed a little cocky but he has been nothing but great each new visit.
I have a consult booked with Dr. Roe June 12th. He does open bypass which I truly don't want but I want to check out all my options. His incission is so small though I can deal with it. I have been going to Dr. Roe's support groups & I am now convinced I want HIM to do my surgery. I have to wait until June for his power point session before I can make an appointment for my personal consult but I love what I have seen so far..UPDATE...had the powerpoint session, it was full of information. Even learned a few things with all the research I have done. I have a one on one appointment for July 22. Boy that seems like forever. Dr. Roe has a strong aftercare program & strongly noted the possible negative side of WLS. I become more impress everytime I see him...UPDATE I am 3 months post op and I can say that DR. Roe & Dawn and his entire staff are wonderful. It sounds so cliche but they truly go thru this ordeal with us. Doc & Dawn celebrate our victories as much as we do. I still love when Doc Roe looks at my 2 and 1/2 inch scar and says "how does he do that" will he is pretending to put his hands inside...it cracks me up. I know everyone loves their surgeon just wanted to make sure everyone knows I love mine too :-)
