Dr. Wayne English has been in Marquette, MI since 12/06 & is head of the Surgical Weight Loss program at Marquette General Hospital. Currently he is the only bariatric surgeon at MGH and also the whole U.P. The Center was named a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery in a press release 9/9/08. He is genuinely interested in the patients health and well being prior to and after surgery. Protocols and procedures are followed prior to and after surgery. rnrnAs of today, 9/19/08, I am approximately 3 to 4 mths. away from RXY surgery, and am counting down the days. rnrnrn
My first impression of Dr. English was a very soft spoken man that really seems to care about his patient.rnI realized he was very educated. He spoke in a group and I had listened to him take every question from every person and answered completely and put fears to rest.rnThere was nothing I can say about him that I didnt like, he treated myself and my family with total respect.rnHe listens and calms you.rnAfter care program seems structered, I am just starting and cant see any flaws.rnHe addressed the risks very honestly and openly.rnI'd rate him Grade A +++ :)rnBeside manners very much impressed me but so did his surgical skills, I went home a day early with no complications and feel very good today 3 days out.rnI have to add that every nurse on every shift raved about this man and him being so nice they all wanted to make sure all his orders were met and completed because they respected him so much, that spoke volumes!
Dr. English and Michelle P.A. are great. His whole office staff is very caring, he will answer ANY question and continue to be caring long after the surgery. He does run a tight program, the hospital staff told me. I would recommend him in a heartbeat!
Dr. Wayne English is an exceptional person!rnHe is extremely reputable and knowledgeable in his field. His office staff is highly professional and always available to help. rnThere is nothing which I dislike about rnDr. English. rnDr. English is very empathetic and caring toward his patients. He is very warm and understanding. Dr. English emphasizes aftercare very much. There is an aftercare program and support group that meets at Florida Medical Center once a month for rnPost-Ops. Dr. English addressed all of the risks of the Gastric Bypass surgery and he made 100% sure that I was ready for this new life. I would rate him on an exceptional level! Before I had him for my surgery, I had heard nothing but positive comments about him. I had heard comments from some other patients who had other types of surgery in which Dr. English had also performed. I was told that Dr. English started doing weight loss surgeries, exclusively, as of like about Spring 2002. I feel that surgical competence and bedside manner are of equal importance.
My first impression of Dr. English is that he was very professional, intuitive and knowledgeable. His staff are equally as well-versed on WLS and will go out of their way to assist you. Future patients can rest assured their health is his first priority, as is follow-up care to insure your continued health. Overall I'd highly recommend Dr. English to anyone considering WLS who truly wants a surgeon worth his weight in gold.
I was blessed to have my laproscopic Roux en Y procedure performed by Dr. English after he joined the staff at MGH in Michigan. Dr. English is patient, thorough and compassionate and took more time with me than any dr. I have worked with. He expects a great deal from those he works with and it was reflected in the post-op care that I received in the hospital and the follow up care I am receiving. He and his staff are true professionals. rnrnI must also mention Karen P. who is the nurse at Dr. English's office. If it weren't for her constant support for an entire YEAR, I don't know what I would've done! She had trouble with her insurance before her surgery and so she knew exactly what I was going through! She is a GEM and I am blessed to still be in contact with her! Thanks Karen!!
Dr. English and his staff are wonderful! They are all very caring and supportive. They really helped me through the entire process. They are always there for a quick question, even though I have quite a few. LOL. No, honestly Dr. English is a wonderful physician. He really gives his patients the best care. He is very patient and really takes the time to explain. If you ever need a surgeon, do not hesitate. You will be in very capable hands.
Dr. English is now practicing out of Marquette General Hospital in Marquette, Michigan but has brought alot of experience to us from his Center of Excellence in Florida. I only have awesome things to say about my surgeon. He is probably the most thorough doctor I have ever been to and really knows his stuff! Dr. English and his staff discuss any concerns you may have about the risks of surgery and are wonderful at answering these questions. They also have a very structured aftercare program and offer support groups on a monthly basis. He has done thousands of these surgeries and his success rate is unbelievable! Dr. Wayne English is a very kind man and sincerely cares about his patients and what is in their best interest. Besides having all of his knowledge and outstanding record, he always has a good bedside manner! That was hard for me to believe because my experience in the past has been you get one or the other. Not with Dr. English. I can't thank him enough for coming to the Upper Peninsula. We really needed a doctor like him here. His staff is also very helpful and all so knowledgeable. I highly recommend The Weight Loss Clinic out of Marquette General Hospital in Marquette, MI, to anyone who is considering this type of surgery and changing their lives! Dr. English is now at Marquette General Hospital, in Marquette, Michigan, where he did my roux-en-y surgery. He is a wonderful person and surgeon, but there were some problems and misunderstandings with the nursing staff after surgery, because they still have a lot to learn about this kind of surgery. His office and clinic staff are great, and they all stress aftercare, and I would rate Dr. Engilsh and his staff as super.
