Wayne English Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.
I liked Dr. English the moment I met him - he is personable, calm, caring and it doesn't hurt to be cute!
He was there for me while in the hospital, answering all my questions and listening to every word I said.
His office staff couldn't be more helpful - but to be honest the receptionist could be a little nicer and more caring. There are two women in the office who are there to answer any of your questions and have been so helpful to me. The nurses are so nice and again have been there for any and all medical problems.
On my last visit to the office, I was early, I was sitting outside the building when Dr. English was walking towards the building he saw me, broke out in a huge smile and sat down and spoke with me for about 10 minutes. I do not remember any Dr. ever taking time like that to speak to a patient.
There is tremendous emphasis on aftercare. It is suggested you come to the monthly support group meeting that the Dr. has as well as get numbers of other people in the group and get on the internet.
Before surgery the Dr. holds a seminar on the surgery that I attended probably 5 times.
The risks are addressed at those seminars and after the seminar the floor is opened to Q & A. I don't think there was a question that one could ask that wasn't asked at those seminars. Everything was covered.
Dr English is the best Dr. I have been to, even while in the hospital the nurses all said that he is the most approachable Dr in
the hospital and is one of the most respected by his peers.
I can't say enough about his surgical competence. I was 463 lbs and time of surgery and the Dr. could not guarantee me he wouldn't have to open me up. While I was waiting to go into surgery he came over to me and said he made a promise to himself that he would not open me up unless he had trouble. When I awakened, he was there and he said that he didn't have trouble with me but it was very difficult and the surgery lasted 5 1/2 hours. He did not open me up for the quicker way out, he operated for 5 1/2 hours because he didn't have trouble, just difficulty. That's what I call a gifted surgeon as well as one that really cares about his patients. I truly respect and thank this Dr for giving me my life back.
For anyone thinking of this surgery in South Florida - seriously consider Dr. English. He is young and very personable. He is not offstandish and really seems to be concerned for the welfare of his patients. Finally, I had absolutely no complications and I believe it was based on the surgery and the medications I recieved - no nausea, no vomiting, no fever. My scars are insignificant (at 3 weeks) and completely healed. Email me if you need further information.
Dr. English is the partner of Dr. Carrasquilla in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. He is very nice, gentle and after speaking to many other patients that have had Dr. E instead of Dr. C. everyone was extremely supportive.
Office staff is fabulous, couldn't ask for more.
Nothing.
Very nice and skilled.
Yes the same as Dr. C
Yes, support meetingss once a month and can call office anytime. Knowledgeable and nice.
Yes
I will rate him after the surgery. So far a 10
Bedside manner and surgical competence rank hand in hand, I must have surgical competence.
I would highly recommend Dr.English and his staff. I started by going to one of the seminars and the support group meeting. I knew that he was the right doctor for me after that one seminar. Its also great to have the support group. I love to hear all of the stories of his other patients and know that there is somebody else that is going through the same thing as me. Dr. English has the BEST bedside manner of any doctor I've ever seen. He is very thorough and everything that happened to me in the hospital from post op and anesthesia to the surgery itself was right on the money. I had no surprises.
My first impression of Dr. English was how gorgeous he was!! After I got over that, I realized just how thorough and caring he was.
The staff is absolutely flawless. No matter how many times you call them with what may seem petty questions, they are always courteous and kind, not to mention helpful to no end.
If you plan on choosing him as your surgeon, know that you can ask him ANYTHING. No need to be shy or hesitant.
He is very big on aftercare, and although I have yet to reach that part of my transition he is already preaching it to me.
He spent 15 minutes on the risks of surgery and what I should expect (pain wise).
I'll fill in more as I'm further along in the process.
When I first heard about the surgery, and its availability via laparoscopy, I heard THE ONLY SURGEON is Dr. Carlos Carrasquilla. I had no other surgeon in mind. It just never came up. Then after I was approved, I went to schedule and due to my university and work schedule, I could only have the surgery on Dec. 18th because my semester ended on the 15th. This way I would have three full weeks of recovery before I had to lug books around again. At that time, I was told my surgeon would be Wayne English, MD, Carrasquilla's partner. At first I wanted to die. It just never crossed my mind that I would have a different doctor. It took me a while to figure out that if Dr. Carrasquilla had Dr. English as a partner, then HE HAD TO BE THE BEST, TOO! I am really glad I have Dr. English as my surgeon. He has excellent bedside manner and is as natural and loving as could be.
Well, first impression is that he's GORGEOUS!! lol After you get over that - you realize that he is as warm and caring and comptetent as he is beautiful.
He's also very thorough and available for questions whenever you need to call him.
His staff, Joanne, Becky etc. They are all great.. and they didn't mind when I called them a million times wondering if there was any word from the insurance co.! lol
I've only seen him once and my surgery is scheduled for Feb 12, 2001 so i'll update this as the date approaches.
