He is a very caring man and he wants his patients to understand the risks and what to expect. I've heard from others about how wonerful he is.

DR. O IS A PLEASANT MAN AND THIS IS HIS APPEARANCE. HE'S A TALL MAN A SORT OF PECAN COLOR WITH A LOW HAIR CUT AND TO THE FACE BEARD. HE LOOKS STRONG MINDED LIKE HE IS VERY SURE OF HIMSELF. NO DOUBTS ON HIS MIND.HIS NURSE ANN IS A TALL BLEACHED BLONDE AND AFTER I CALLED HER SO MUCH. DIDN'T MIND TELLING ME NOT TO CALL HER ANYMORE SHE WOULD CALL ME. THEIR OFFICE IS VERY BUSY THEY JUST STARTED DOING WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY HER AT CARLE HOSPITAL LAST OCT. 2001. SO IT IS IN VERY HIGH DEMAND . ROMA THE PATIENT CAS COOR. WAS VERY NICE AND PATIENT I GO IN THE OFFICE SOMETIMES JUST TO WEIGHT AND IT'S ALWAYS OKAY THEY JUST SMILE AND SAY HELLO AND YOU KNOW WHERE THE SCALES ARE.

Really liked Dr.Olphant from the start--three visits from him day 3 post op!!!!Ann in Dr. Oliphant's office was terrific at helping me jump through the needed hoops for my surgery.Dr.Oliphant puts much enphasis on after care his schedule for seeing us is sooner and more frequent than most Dr.s. I am told that the support group is great a Carle though every time I wanted to go to one work would shedule me for a late day that day(isn't that how it always goes).Dr. Oliphant did adderess all the possible risks of this surgery--including death but I felt I needed something done to help me off the meery-go-round I was on.As a nurse the first thing I noticed when I first saw my incision site was that it was so much neater than many others I had seen, meaning in my opinion he had taken the time to do it right. I also think that his bedside manner is excellent.

My first impression of Dr. Oliphant was good. He is a really nice Dr. My impression has really grown since meeting other people that have had him and spent more time with him and his staff. I can see that he is very dedicated to support his patients and wants to see them succeed in their new journey. Every 2nd thursday of every month he has a support group for all of his patients which his nurse Ann is always in attendance at. He is definitely one that is looking for someone that will follow directions to the T. The things he tells you and asks of his patients are there for there well being so he does mean business, but he brings that forth in firm but good way.

I found Dr. Oliphant to be extremely nice and
very caring. He is also very honest about
what you are going to go through and what to
expect. He typically gets brutually honest
and usually ends up scaring people, but he does
that so people understand the seriousness of
the surgery.

He is very dogged about avoiding sugar, high
fat foods and EXERCISE!!!! He just keeps
repeating that mantra.

He has started an entire program, which
includes a support group that meets once a month
and about every 3 months or so he pops in.
There is a nutrition class and even a post op
exercise class for people who can't or have
never exercised.

His nurse, Ann, is absolutely phenominal. She
attends every support group meeting and knows
all of us by name. She is extremely supportive
and caring.

I highly recommend Dr. Oliphant.

I only real "negative" thing I have to say,
is that it would have been nice to have him
stay and go over what to expect when I got home
the day he released me. I kind of paniced when
I got home, but I was so glad to go home, I
quickly got over that.

hi everyone
dr.oliphant is my surgery dr.when i first meant him i thought he was very nice and understanding to everything i had to say. and the questions i had for him they were answered and he also told me this was for life and it was major surgery and i also had to work with this tool.i had been going to the carle surport groups and he was pleased cause he said you'll need these even after your surgery. his staff is great anne she helpes in every way that she can. you ever have question even if you think it's small they tell you to call. i had my surgery sept 24 02. and when i go back for any check ups they are great. i had some pain on my right side and when i was there he made time to come in and check me to see if i was ok. lucky me he said i may have pulled a muscle. thank god nothing bad. i would tell every one, i would do it all over again.

I think he was in a hurry the day I saw him. I had to wait 2 hours, due to an emergency. After that, I just felt like he had other things on his mind. I have heard lots of good things about him, so maybe I caught him on a bad day! He is going to start doing lap surgeries the first of February. He thinks I would be a good candidate, so I guess I will go along with it. I feel confident in his abilities.

Dr Oliphant is a big man who understands being overweight and dieting. He admits he could stand to lose a few pounds hisself. He has a very friendly office who treated me with much respect. He even provides large chairs and couches for his overweight patients. I was showed a movie about the procedure and then given a question time at which time he answered all questions, with most emphasis being on after the surgery. There is a well structured after care program consisting of office visits, and follow up visits with the dietician at least twice. You are encouraged to call at any time you have a concern or problem. His nurse Anne is very helpful and sees you at most follow up appointments. At the time of my surgery in Oct. 02, he was only doing the Rny, but I've heard he may start the Lap in Feb. or March. He has done over 100 surgeries. Unless you have a problem after surgery, you really don't see Dr. Oliphant much. You will see his nurse Anne. On a scale of 1-10, I give him a 9, 1 point off for lack of patient contact.

Dr. O is very laid back and easy going. He is also a top notch surgeon and I have great confidence in his abilities.

My first impression of Dr. O was that he was very sincere. He seems truthful and very honest. He doesn't act like he is better than us and that we are taking the easy way out. His staff is excellent. They are easy to talk to and they listen to what you are saying. They don't treat you like you are an idiot. Dr. O is very much into letting you know that you and him are going to become lifetime buddies. He tells you straight out that you need to take him and this surgery seriousely. "This is just a tool" is what he would tell me. I rate Dr. O and his staff very high. Their bedside and surgical competence is great. I am sooooo glad that I chose him to be my surgeon. Oh yeah..the only negative thing I could say about Dr. O is that he is a very busy man, which makes it hard at times to keep his surgery appt's. I had mine changed because he could not be in 2 places at the same time. But after he said "come hell or high water we will do it on 4/5/02" I knew I could believe him.
