I met Dr Lamar when I was late to the required symposium. I asked if I could still come in and told him I had gotten lost \"twice\". He asked where I had driven from and snuck me in the back of room. He’s tall, with puppy dog eyes. Weeks later I met with him in the office with my hubby. Dr Lamar again was relaxed and took his time with us. Linda is the Bariatric Coordinator. Id says she probably runs the place. We met with her at the same appointment. She explains the processes and gives all the stuff for all the pre-op requirements. I was able to set up my Nutrition and Psych Eval on the same day in the office. It was very convenient since Im driving far to see this group.rnrnAnyone considering this Surgical group should start with their Symposium. All three physicians are there. Im sure Dr Lamar will stick out. He just has that presence.rnrnThe whole program is structured. At the symposium you are given a black folder with information on surgeries, hospital and supplements. This folder goes with you to all your appointments, with nutritionist etc. Linda will give you plenty of paperwork, one of it being a cheat sheet to mark dates and places of all your appointments. Its has been recommended more than once to attend their support groups which are set up by time since you surgery.rnrnRisks or surgery was addressed at the symposium and personally at my first office visit.rnrnSo far im pretty happy with the process.rnrnDefiantly competence is more important but bedside manner is a close second. Even if your surgeon is great the experience will be much better they care. Im not 100% sure but I think Dr Lamar’s mom had GBSrnrnrnrnrnrnrn
Doctor LaMar was wonderful, he is very informative and certainly has a wonderful track record. After meeting him I knew he was the one to perform my surgery. He just has a way of making you feel comfortable and I have all the confidence in the world with him and his staff.rnrnI would surely recomend him to friends and anyone else just checking for a doctor. The other members in his office are equally great and have a lot of experience in this field. I am very excited and anxious to have my surgery.rnrnHe has a wonderful smile and great bedside manners.
I was referred to Dr. Lamar by a friend who had RNY performed by him 5+ years ago. My first impression was not his TALL stature - but the confidence he exuded in the work he does, with a substantial amount of humbleness at the same time. He doesn't play around - there is no joking/light-heartedness around this process, he takes it very seriously. But he so calming with his confidence....he constantly reminds you without saying it - he is performing the procedure, but it is still up to you to do the work....he doesn't pretend to be a miracle worker, however that is how I see him. His staff is AWESOME!! Getting ready for my surgery, I am clear that I was a PAIN! I was under a timeline, so I was nervous, but Linda was patient with me and worked with me and got EVERYTHING handled. The rest of the staff are so nice and easy to talk to. They all really care about the patients - authentically, which is a very nice thing....The aftercare program is wonderful - the support groups are very good and run by competent professionals....All I can say is anyone thinking about this procedure should see Dr. Lamar and his associates at California Bariatric & General Surgery Group!
Dr. LaMar was so wonderful from the min. that I met him. I was so comfortable with him I could really talk with him and get the help that I really needed. The office for California Bariatric & General Surgery Associates was so wonderful I know that id it was not for them that I would not be where i am today. Every question that I had was taken care of right away and with no problems. I had the surgery on the 5th of March 2008 and today in the 10th of June 2008 and I have lost 70lbs. I go suport groups and I am not due to visit my doctor again untill the 28th of August. I had surgery at Methosit Hospital in Arcadia it's the most wonderful hospital they did everything to make sure that I was as happy as could be. I have been so happy with everything that has happend to me that I have sent my father to doctor LaMar and I know that he is in the best hands for this surgery. Thank You Doctor LaMar and staff
I met with Dr. LaMar in December, 07 and he was very pleasant and personable. He seems very confident person. He took the time to answer all my questions and concerns. He is sooo nice and answered my questions. He explained everything, the pro and con. He really seems to care. I would recommend him to anyone. A friend on my daughters works at Methodist Hospital surgical floor and when I told her that I was having Gastric Bypass Surgery and that I had Dr. Lamar she said...\"Oh, you are so lucky. And, when I was in the hospital everyone raved about him. He is WONDERFUL!!!!!!!
My first impression of Dr. LaMar was that he is a very confident person and tall! He was approachable and took the time to answer all my questions at the symposium. I don't know much else about him. He was nice and answered my questions. Really, I didn't have that many, so he just explained everything. What really impressed me was that he showed up to the support meeting on a Monday night. He seemed to really care and was \"for real\" if you know what I mean. I would recommend him to anyone. I have heard nothing but good things about him around Arcadia.
