Tim Wheeler Bariatric Surgeon MD

Dr Wheeler is a great surgeon that i would recommend to anyone thinking of starting this weight loss journey. When you first meet him, he just tells you like it is. He puts all the information out there and says all he can do is the surgery and the rest is up to you. He wants his patients to understand that this isn't an easy fix. This is a lifetime change and only you can do it. Dr. Wheeler and his staff is always there to answer questions pre-op and post-op. Believe me i've called them several times to ask questions, and someone was always willing to talk to me then or at least contact me back. I would rate Dr. Wheeler as the best bariatric suregon in the tri-state area. Thanks for everything that you have done for me!!

Dr. Wheeler and his staff are top-notch. They were one of the first 20 hospitals in the U.S. to receive the Center of Excellence Award for their weight-loss program. It is an awesome program, very well-rounded for the complete person from nutrition to a behavioral specialist. They are great!

I attended a seminar in Portsmouth with Dr. Wheeler. My first impression of him was that he was very informative about what he does. He appeared to be very smart and knew his stuff. I did feel that he was straight forward and to the point. No sugar coating from him, just the facts. As I got to know him a little better, I found that he is a very smart and caring doctor. He is very good at what he does and he has been very sincere to me during this process. I feel that he is always trying to help and make things go better during this process. All of his staff are really great and they have been very helpful to me during my visits to there. People need to know what kind of doctor, Dr. Wheeler is. He is caring and genuinely is concerned for all of his patients. He will answer any questions that you may have for him at any time. He makes you feel comfortable to talk with him about your concerns or if you want to ask him something. Aftercare at his office is very important in this process of your surgery. When I started on this journey, I received alot of information about the surgery and the risks that are involved in each type. Overall, I would rate Dr. Wheeler a BIG 10!!!!! He is wonderful and I want to recommend him to everyone!!! I feel that surgical competence and bedside manner are both great. This decision is a life changing decision and I sure would not want someone who did not know their stuff and were not sincerely concerned for your well-being and health to be my doctor and that is why I chose Dr. Wheeler because he is very surgically competent and his bedside manner is the best!!!!!!!! Dr Timothy Wheeler is the epitome of excellence! We in the Ashland KY area are privileged to have him. I was quite apprehensive at my first consultation. I didn’t know what to expect, but I was quickly greeted by his highly qualified staff and put at ease. I knew immediately that I had found the best surgeon for my procedure. Little did I know at that time, that prior to my WL procedure, I would be hospitalized and require a gallbladder operation. Dr Wheeler performed my gallbladder surgery 6 weeks ago. I have experienced his professional demeanor prior to my WL procedure and this further confirms my confidence in his abilities. I never leave Dr Wheelers office with unanswered questions. I spent countless hours researching physicians prior to going to a consultaion. Dr Wheeler has an impeccable record and reputation. When you review his pre and post surgery requirements you will see why. You must be willing to comply to his structured plan or you won't succeed! I would highly recommend Dr Timothy Wheeler if you want a qualified and caring surgeon.

HIS OFFICE STAFF SEEMED VERY CORDIAL AND WILLING TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS.

DR WHEELER REALLY EMPHASIZES THE NEED FOR A STRICT AFTERCARE PROGRAM TO CONTINUE TO ASSIST YOU IN YOUR LIFE LONG JOURNEY AFTER SURGERY. HIS AFTERCARE PROGRAM OFFERED AT KINGS DAUGHTERS MEDICAL CENTER IS DETAILED WITH EVERYTHING NEEDED FOR POST OP SUPPORT.

When I met Dr. Wheeler I was greatly surprized by his manner. He was up front and honest with me. Me made me feel at ease as he talked to me. He asked me what I expected form the surgery and what I could expect. I liked that about him. I told him I wanted to lose weight however not too quickly because I thought that it my cause other health problems. He put me to ease and for that I was truly grateful. He has a great team and they work hard to help you with any problems you have to put you at ease. I am really happy with the choice in doctors I have made and look forward to becoming a LOSER!!!

Dr. Wheeler has been great. My impression started out quite positive at our first meeting, and has improved over time. His office staff is excellent. What I like least is probably his oral communication style - it takes a little getting used to. He seems to anticipate what you're asking him, and answers you before you're done speaking. I don't rate this at a major problem, though. I think he is just so anxious to anwer your questions, that he gets a little ahead of himself. Future patients should know that he really, truly cares for his patients, and wants what's best for them. Aftercare is very heavily emphasized. There is an excellent aftercare program through his office and KDMC. They employ a program coordinator and dietician full time, and are adding an exercise physiologist very soon. There are also separate support group meetings for the lap-band and RNY patients, which is very nice. The risks of surgery were addressed completely. Overall, I would rate Dr. Wheeler very high.

I met Dr. Tompkins and Dr. Wheeler at the surgical information session. I was impressed with the information and frankness of both physicians. They stayed after the session to discuss concerns with patients privately. I will update as I have further contact.

6/30/03 Had my initial consult with Dr. Wheeler today. He was informative, up-front about risks and benefits, and personal. His office staff is encouraging and helpful as well.

(9-20-2003) WOOHOO! I'm a loser!!! Dr. Wheeler did my lap band surgery on August 22nd. My whole experience has been top-notch. I live 3 hours from Ashland, and I would not hesitate to ever drive that 3 hours again. I couldn't have made a better decision on my surgeon and his staff. Deana, Anna, Tonya, and Chris have just been wonderful!! I am so glad I did this. :)

(4/9/2004) I'm back once again to sing the praises of Dr. Wheeler. HE IS THE MAN! :0) I am so thankful that I was blessed to have him as my surgeon.
