Take a look at my pictures on the colorado bariatric facebook page... words could never describe how thankful I am that I made the decision to get the lapband! Dr. Brown and his staff are AMAZING!! Not only are they supportive before, during, and after, they listen and they truly care! I owe everything to them... from Amy who helped me get through the insurance stuff, to Erin, Dr. Brown's assistant - who is awesome! to the social workers, and really the whole office staff!! Dr. Brown is magical! This was the easiest surgery and recovery I could've ever asked for! The hardest part is making the right choices in food - but even that hasn't been an issue. I have gone from a size 20 to a size 10 in 7 months - 65 pounds! (I know this is more than recommended!) but I've been working out (hard) since the last 2 weeks of January and I love it!! The best part is, I haven't felt tired, hungry, or like I'm dieting!! I would recommend Dr. Brown and his staff a million times over and if I could scream it to the world I would! I LOVE them! I love my life, I love having ME back!

Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Brown and his PA Erin was less than stellar. I’m writing this review only to caution others who may be considering using CBSI for a lapband. First, my band prolapsed immediately after surgery. I don’t necessarily think that it was Dr. Brown’s fault – I just happened to be one of the unfortunate statistics. The real problem was that Erin continuously told me that I was just healing slowly and never took my complaints of not being able to eat seriously. So, instead of discovering the prolapse in the first couple of weeks (when there would have been less scarring), it took them by surprise six weeks later, when I finally insisted upon the test. Then, I found out during consults with other surgeons for a gastric sleeve that there had been complications in my revision surgery that Dr. Brown never disclosed to me. That was very disconcerting. During these consults for VSG, it was apparent to me that even though the surgeons I visited never said a bad thing about Dr. Brown, they certainly did not sing his praises the way they did for a couple of other surgeons in town. I believe that professional respect is one of the most important factors in understanding a doctor’s competence, and it was clear that Dr. Brown did not enjoy such respect from the other 2 surgeons I spoke with. I found the office staff and Dr. Brown helpful and caring at first. But, once I was no longer a “current patient,” it seemed like I was written off every time I called the office, as if I was somehow putting them out with my questions. For example, when trying to get records transferred for my VSG consults, I felt as if I was pulling teeth. I ultimately went to the office, with my printer/copier in my car, prepared to make copies myself if necessary. Fortunately, it didn’t come to that! The one exception to this review is in regards to the MSW who works with CBSI, Liz. She is absolutely amazing!!

Dr Brown was very interested in my story and he was attentive to the questions I asked on our initial visit. He was able to clearly describe the procedures and the expected outcomes. The office staff is OUT of this WORLD. They are friendly and helpful and they all make you feel like you have been a favorite patient for years.

Dr Brown has been the most amazing dr. He has been there every time I have called and needed a question answered. He is kind and smart and very wonderful. When you have fears or questions he will talk them out and clear every fear up and answer every question you have fully. His staff is very smart and helpfull also. If you need a good Dr and want somebody that will take care of you somebody that will check on you after surgery twice a day in the hospital go with Dr brown he is truly great.

I met Dr. Brown on Thursday July 1st. He seems very nice and level headed. I feel very comfortable with him and confident about him going forward into surgery. Since I have Kaiser Permanente, a lot of my after care will be through them. I am already set up with a support group. I will see Dr. Brown 2 weeks post op, and then at 4 weeks for my first fill. Dr. Brown really put me at ease and answered most of my questions, and then he asked me to ask him questions. I did! I asked all kinds of questions. After 8 weeks of pre-op classes through Kaiser, I did not have a ton of questions, but I still had some. He answered each question thoroughly and then made sure that I understood the answer, and then would ask me to ask another question. I really like Dr. Brown a lot!

Now almost 4 years out of my RNY surgery, I am at my lowest weight since middle school. I lost 136# and have been able to maintain it. I appreciated Dr. Brown's honesty with me from the very beginning and now further into my journey, I appreciate him even more! The on going support is CRITICAL, I still attend monthly support group meetings,( I have only missed 4 in 4 years!)I have made new life long friends thru the group. The whole staff works together to make you feel like you matter to them from start to the next level of your journey. They are avaliable to talk to and encourage you each step of the way. I have recommended many patients to Dr. Brown and I will continue to! He saved my life and helped me discover the life I never knew I was missing out on!
He comes of a little dry at first, but as they say to know him is to love him, and he is one of my favorite people ever!
I like him so well, I let him take out my appendix 6 months post bypass too....I have bragging rights to be his only 2 surgery patient!

My first impression of Dr. Brown is that he had a dry sense of humor which I loved. I found him to be very knowledgeable and approachable. I had my RNY surgery 1/11/10. Dr Brown did a fine job. I have had good interactions with his staff. There is nothing I liked least about Dr. Brown. I would definitely recommend Dr. Brown to others. I had a friend who had Dr. Brown do her surgery 11/17/09 and she had lots of complications and I had my pouch well shut after surgery, but every PATIENT is different and I don't think those things were a reflection on Dr. Brown. I have an aftercare appt with Dr. Brown next week, then I go back to Kaiser. He did STRONGLY recommend following up with all the after care and attending support groups. I would rate Dr. Brown as excellent. I loved Dr. Brown.

My first impression of Dr.Brown is that he was confidant. His staff has been very helpful and fun to be around the past six months. Dr. Brown did my husband's surgery on the 23rd of Nov. 09 and everything went extreamly well. He got the lap band and today he walked 2 miles and can't believe how easy this has been on him.I would say that Dr. Brown's surgical competance is better than the bedside manner, but we shall see if that changes with my surgery. Overall I would recommend his practice to anyone looking for a surgeon. The nurses at the hospital made several good comments about Dr. Brown so that helped me with the fearful part.

Dr. Brown is very calm, laid back, moves kind of slow, talks slow. Listens to every question and I never felt rushed for a second. Answered every question I had on my lengthy list of questions.
