Thad Boss Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

My first impression of Dr. Boss was that he was very knowledgeable, patient and caring. He answered all of my questions. My impression has not changed, he is very kind, but more importantly, also a great surgeon. Regarding the office staff, I unfortunately cannot rave about the service that I received from the office staff. My calls were NEVER returned, even up to the day before surgery, I was making calls to my insurance company regarding my surgery. Also, a very important insurance paper that I had submitted for reimbursement of $2200 for a trip that I was unable to take was never filled out. I always got the impression that they were too busy to take my phone calls (I only made 3 or 4 calls!) and were annoyed that I was bothering them. On the other hand, in person the office staff is very nice and sweet. I think that they are just too busy to handle the volume of calls that they get. I do believe that Highland has recently enlarged the office so maybe that will help. Aftercare is awesome, they have very informative handouts that explain everything to you. The entire program is very well structured, risks of surgery were addressed at all levels, beginning with the psych. eval. and nutritionist. Dr. Boss's surgical competance was A++++, his bedside manner A++++, he is a very caring Dr. Some of the nurses were a little crabby during my stay at the hospital but that happens everywhere. I had a hard time getting anyone to listen to me right after surgery when I tried to explain that morphine was not helping my pain, they might as well have been giving me baby aspirin. Finally after about 8 hours of pain one of the residents (a female, btw) listened and ordered me a pain killer through my iv that actually worked. It was heaven........It was so nice to have somebody take my complaint seriously and try to help me. You won't go wrong by choosing Dr. Boss.

Dr. Boss is great! I was very impressed with him from the start. He went to bat for me with the insurance companies, and we won! I was the 1st lap-band in my insurance area. He is relatively new to the proceedure, as am I. But he made me feel comfortable going into uncharted territory. This journey has not been without a few bumps in the road, but all have been reasonable for this type of surgery, and remedied. I have felt like a partner in this, all along. He has a very personable, easy manner about him. I continue to be more than pleased with the relationship I have with him and his helpful, patient staff.

Dr. Boss is a very soft spoken gentleman. Answered all my questions. He came & saw me twice while I was in the hospital recovering from my surgery. What a dedicated Doctor! I am more than pleased with Dr. Boss & I would recommend him to anyone. His office secretary, Tammy is such a sweetheart. Always cheerful and helpful. I don't think you could ask for a better team.

Dr. Boss....what can I say but "A SUPER Doc!" I met him today...and he succeeded in making me feel as if he had no other patients to wait on except me!!! He had everyday "english" answers for my everyday "english" questions! And he wasn't afraid to give me a smile that went to his eyes!!! I truly feel that I am not just another subject for him. That he realizes that I am a person who is looking to have a long time dream come true... and he is the one who can provide it for me!!! His assistant Tammy was wonderful as well and the Highland Hospital is one of the cleanest and friendliest hospitals I have ever seen!!! Out of a scale of 1 to 5 I would rate my experience todate with this doctor and staff a 5+ . Well worth the 3 hour drive to get there and 3 hours back!

I liked Dr. Boss right away. He was friendly but informative and asked me questions that weren't easy but made me realize he was really concerned about success for each patient. No, My impression didn't change..I still think he's nice. So is Tammy his secretary.
I really have no complaints about him as a surgeon. It is imperative that you make all your after care appts. You get to see the doctor each time not a nurse which is a bonus.
Dr. Boss just stated what complications where and what the percentages where. I had a bowel leak and blood clot both but I knew that there where risks. I'd still do it again.
He was both a nice guy and a compentent surgeon. I had complications but I was warned that there where risks. I don't feel that he did anything to intentionally jeorpardize my health. I would recommend Dr. Boss to friends and family.

My first impression of Dr. Boss was that he was very patient and very knowledgable. I have only met him at the group consult but will update after I have my individual consult with him on 9/28. I do not believe though that my impression will change. I met with him on 9/28 for the personal consult and my impression did not change at all!
