I did a lot of research in choosing a doctor for my surgery and I am very happy with Dr. Bhoyrul. I am a little high strung and nervous when it comes to doctors, and he put me at ease right away. His staff is great to work with, warm and very professional. He knows exactly what the insurance companies are looking for in a patient and is very good at helping me to understand the process and how this tool can help me achieve better health and well-being.
He sets up a program of educational meetings, a personal trainer (optional - but very worth while), a nutritionist, and a psychologist (the insurance companies are requiring this now), and then a doctor who specializes in working with over-weight / post Baritric Bypass patients.
I have spoken with quite a few of his former patients and they have assured me that he is definately there for you after the surgery. He is a very busy man, so my suggestion is that you go in prepared with questions and concerns thought out ahead of time.
I am not the fastest thinker in the world and always manage to remember a question that I wanted to ask after I have left the office.
Excellent doctor, genuine concern about my weight issues. He seemed to meet me where I was in terms of medical language and lingo. As a nurse, I wanted to be fully prepared. He explained to me that he needed me to give 100% if I was expecting him to give 100%. I made that promise to him and proceeded with the scheduling of surgery.
Excellent staff. Was willing to do their part when I demonstrated that I could do mine. I gave them all copies that I had of my exercise logs (even 24 hour fitness generated a 2 year previous log), diet journal including Weight Watchers journals and my check in logs. I have never discarded any of these items and the surgery scheduler- Jackie was thrilled that I had presented her my information. I was authorized within 8 days.
He is one of the most Awesome Dr's i have ever seen or heard of. He is kind considerate. He explains the procedure and lets you know it is 50% you and 50% him. His staff so far has been excelent and courteous. always checking to make sure things go easily.
He was firm in his making you understnd that there are dangers of having the surgery but at the same time letting you know that there are dangers in being overweightas well..
I am 2 weeks post op and i continue to be amazed by Dr Bhoyrul, His kindness and understanding as well as courteous and considerate keep amazing me constantly.
I would definetely recomend him to everyone and anyone whom asked. He is just not a dr who is in and out of the office as quickly as possible. He wants to know his patients. He wants to let his patients know he cares. And he really does care. He tries to make things easy but at the safe time he lets you know that things are not going to be easy at first but he sits there and supports me whole heartedley.
So thumbs up to Dr Bhoyrul.
GREAT! He is consistently extremely caring and conscientious about his work and you, the patient and your success.
His staff is great too!
There is NOTHING I can say I do not like about him....he exels in his field...
He is my first choice and first recommendation. I have met with previous physicians and he is the most well-rounded, aware, compassionate physician I have met in this field. You can trust him, feel most comfortable with him, and know he is one-hundred percent committed to you and your journey for the two year committment you are taking.
He thoroughly explains details to you and what you must do to be successful .
I rarely meet physicians who I would give a 5 Star to....and he is one!
BOTH surgical competence and bedside manner are extremely crucial to ones total well-being and Dr. Bhoyrul 's reputation is just this. I am so fortunate to have met him at this most signifigant time of my life. I am sorry to say I have nothing negative to say and I am extremely particular about who I put my most vested interests with.
My first impression of Dr. Bhoyrul was that he was a kind man, and was very supportive of his patients. He said that I had to do my 50% of the work, and then he would do his 50%. I met with him 3 times in 3 months, before we set my surgery date of March 12th. Doctor told me that the aftercare program will be extremly important to the whole process, and that we will be seeing alot of each other in the next two years. I have confidence in him, since I will have to travel from Seattle to San Diego for all my appointments.
His office staff, especially Lou are very kind, and helpful. His office secretary Jacque has been pleasant and excellent to work with. He has a support group that meets once a month, and I found the group very friendly, and all the questions were answered in detail. My surgery will be at Scripps Green Hospital, and I will be updating my experience.
I absolutely love Dr. Bhoyrul. He is the nicest man. And he understands what I'm going through and how I'm feeling. I can't say enough about him. I've had four visits with him in 4 months. When I left after the first visit, I had every question answered thoroughly. I never got the feeling of being "rushed" as in so many doctor's offices. Although he is my surgeon, I also feel as though he's a friend as well. I would never hesistate talking to him about anything. There is an aftercare group that is part of my medical group, which he insists must be part of the program. And his office staff is great.
My first impression of Dr Bhoyrul was that I had just met one of the kindest men in the world. He listened attentively, answered appropriatly and made sure that I understood all the risks involved. He explained these in detail before he described the positives. His nurse Mary is an absolute gem!
On the Negative side, my second visit with him did not go as well. I had not followed his instructions and he did not cut me ANY slack whatsoever. He made it very clear that his office would not submit any paperwork until I had followed his instructions completely. I list this as a negative, but in reality I think it is a positive.
