I've been very pleased with Dr Simper. His staff is helpful and gets right back to me with answers to all my questions. He's polite and thorough during my visits.
When I was in the hospital he was stern about telling me to do my walking even though I was out walking far more than I had even been told to walk. Made me think that he expects his patients to not walk and that he was lecturing me without even looking to see what I had actually done. I didn't consider it any big deal.
That he was much nicer than his picture shows.
He is so kind - he was amazing when I developed numerous complications.
Sharp, but slow.
I have nothing I do not like.
Dr. Simper is ALWAYS there to help you. He's so into his patients he forgets that his staff has to schedule things. That sort of ticks the staff off.
He was very empathetic. He's done so many of these he completely understands. He ran so many tests on me and kept me in the hospital for a longer stay because I had no real place to go after surgery(I went out of state for it).
They told me all of the risks. Sadly, I was one of those 1% people.
He's a 9
Both are GREAT!
My first impression of Dr. Simper was of a warm and caring man who takes pride in his work and helping others. He is very concerned about his patients. Over all his officce staff is very good. they are over worked and should probably add 1 or 2 more people. There was nothing I didn't like about Dr. Simper. He was caring and thorough in his explanations. He was very willing to sit there and answer all my, my husband's and my mother's questions. Dr. Simper also made sure that we were completely aware of and understood the risks of this surgery especially since I was so large. Dr. Simper and the rest of the physicians at Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians put a huge emphasis on after care. They have a very good aftercare program for local and long distance patients.
Overall on a scale of 1 - 10, with 1 being horrid and 10 perfect, I would give him a 9.
i feel that if another surgeon had done my surgery I would not be doing as well as I am. Dr. simper is extremely competent and has a great bedside manner. Both of those are important to me.
I met Dr. Simper last week, he seems very confident. He was very informative and straight to the point... this is serious business!!! He said he refuses to preform surgery on a patient if you think you can't handle taking your vitamins and following protocol. I know 2 people...one is my cousin he did surgery on and they did great. no complications. I feel confident I have chosen a good surgeon after talking with my pcp, gasteroenterologist and a couple people I know that works with him at RMAP. Dr.Simper indicated that the risks of death between the 3 Dr.s at his office is 1 in 800-1000. That is comforting compared to 1 in 200 nationally or the last I heard from RMAP was 1 in 500. I am assuming the lap procedure has reduced the risks significantly. Oh yeah... he told me he expected to see me at the top of Timpanogas soon!!! I promise Dr. Simper!!!!
I was very pleased with Dr. Simper and the care I have recieved so far. I am about 5 days post op so this is all a new process but it has been so smooth and uncomplicated I have been happily surprised. I met Dr. Simper the day before my surgery and liked him immediately. He seemed very competent and concerned. He was very serious and talked alot about all the risks and complication possibilities which made me alittle nervous. I have done alot of research for years on surgery so was very aware of what would happen. His surgical competance and bedside manner were both great. His office staff can be slow and not likely to quickly follow up so I had to call often if I had a question pre-op and have learned not to rely in voice mail messages as they likely are not returned so I wait on hold or keep calling back until I get someone. That was the biggest frustration. They have a very structured aftercare program which you are required to pay $500.00 to be part of. The program seems great though. So far I have had virtually no pain, have been up and exercising (walking) and am surprised at how good I feel. I am so happy I have done this.
Dr. Simper was great! After surgery I was sick and they were not sure what was causing it. He went back in to review my surgery just to make sure it was not the procedure (Roux-en-Y/LAP) It turns out that I had pneumonia, which can happen after surgery. I felt very confident in his abilities.
You do have quite a wait in the office to see him. I ususally wait about an hour or longer in the waiting room.
Prior to surgery Dr. Simper answered all of my questions and was very candid about the risks involved.
