My first impression of Dr. Simper is of a no-nonsense professional, when I first met him in 2004. His office staff is excellent - I felt zero judgement and felt very welcome. I can't say that there's anything I didn't really like about him - he's very honest and upfront. Some people may not enjoy the honesty because it seems like he doesn't care, but he doesn't mince words. I personally really need that in a doctor.
Dr. Simper does have a structured aftercare program, which requires support groups and 5 to 8 follow-up appointments within the first year post-op.
Prior to surgery, I was required to attend 3 different classes so that I was fully informed and understood the risks and benefits of the surgery.
Overall, I'd give Dr. Simper the highest marks because he was experienced, honest and had great reviews. I did my research on the surgeon before I picked him

I was referred to Dr. Simper by another patient of his who happened to be my gynecologists RN. I am glad she referred me to him. Dr .Simper is a very knowledgeable, caring, informative doctor, and he has a great sense of humor. Until I actually met with Dr. Simper I had some fears of having the surgery done. Dr. Simper eased my fears without knowing that the did. The information packet/book he passes out to all of his patients via the class we take is very informative. Even though I'm only on my 3rd day out I rely alot on this book. The thing I like most about Dr. Simper is that he truly does care for his patients over the almighty dollar. His patients come first. I would recommend Dr. Simper to everybody I know who is planning on having weight loss surgery done.

Excellent surgeon in my opinion. He performed my Duodenal Switch (laproscopic) in April, 2009. I was impressed with his resume and meeting him in person only confirmed that thought. He's straight forward, offers sound advice and is caring. The office staff is efficient and helpful. I was initially thinking I would have to travel out of Utah to obtain my DS, but was thrilled to learn that Dr. Simper is trained in this surgical specialty. I felt completely confident in him, given his bariatric and vascular surgery background as well as his training and knowledge of the DS. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Simper and the Rocky Mountain Associated Physician's (RMAP) group.

I love my surgeon! He is a straight-shooter and doesn't mince words. In my opinion, he's very accomplished, accurate, and thorough and I trust him completely. His after-care program is top notch - I haven't seen any better! I think he is quite strict in comparison to other doctors with his after-care diet. For me, I need that!

Dr. Simper did my laparascopic gastric bypass on 11/21/08. I first met him at the introductory WLS seminar, and found him to be professional, friendly, informative, willing to answer questions, and very militant about doing bariatric surgery laparascopically. I was quite impressed, as my surgery was to be a revision of a previous WL surgery that left behind a consideral amount of scar tissue and adhesions. On the initial consult, he spent a lot of time with me, offered me a number of options, thoroughly reviewed positives and negatives, and I was very gratified that he shared some \"what ifs\"....if he couldn't do plan A, did I want a plan B in place? I had my surgery at 2pm on a Friday (using plan A!), went home Monday morning. He visited with me on Saturday, and since he was going out of town he told me his associate would see me while he was gone (which he did). Up to this point his staff has been available for questions and concerns, which is of utmost importance to me since my first surgery failed. They have a monthly support group which I plan on attending. As far as I'm concerned, he gets an A in all areas from me. My only suggestion for their practice is that they share with postop patients more available online support groups in addition to their own, which is a bit small. Good luck to you!

Dr Simper seemed very professional and nice. He answered everyones questions and told us the risks and benifits of the surgery. He said he can do the surgery in 1 hour. At this point. I have only met him the one time so as I deal with him more I will say more then. The staff is great once you get in. But before orientation its like top secret to get info.
