I've only met with him once, but he seems genuinly caring. He wanted to make sure I was in good mental health before allowing me to continue with surgery. The office staff was wonderful. They went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and relaxed. I would recommend this Dr. to anyone interested in surgery. He did stress that the aftercare is the most important part of the procedure, mentally, physically and emotionally. He did mention all the surgery risks, which are nothing compared to the benefits. I would definately recommend him for anyone's surgery.
My first impression of Dr Steven Poplawski M.D.,F.A.C.S. was that he was a very careing man who genuinely cares for his patients not only phisically but mentally also . He wants to meet all your needs not only take care of the problom but also a solution to how the problom started. He wants you to phisically and mentally whole and healthy. He stressed aftercare again not only the phisical but also the mental.
He does not want you to have this procedure done for the wrong reasons.
On April 22, 2002 I first met Dr. Poplawski while standing at the front desk waiting for the receptionist to copy my I.D., I must say I was surprised that the Dr. dressed in a white lab coat with his name printed on it would stop while passing by the door to ask if I was bieng helped. In fact bieng in the medical field unfortunatley you don't always see the "Dr's" doing such little things as that. So I think I was looking forward to seeing if he was as nice and laid back for the consultation as the first encounter. Keep in mind I have been reading all the reviews by clients and know going in what others have thought about him, so he was put on a show and tell pedestal in my mind. I had a totally diffent vibe from him. Basically my thoughts are, this Dr. knows what he is doing and can provide you a service if you need it and are healthy enough physically and mentally to have it be a benefit. But he tells you up front that there is a reason you made it all the way up the scale and into his office and that that needs to be addressed. So we talked alot about that stuff. But overall on a scale of 1-10 at this time I will give him a 8 1/2. P.S. He is very complete, he gave me a refferal for a consult with the endocronologist (for my Pituitary tumor) to be safe and said I need my psych. eval to submit for Insurance approval then we will make a SURG DATE. I am excited!
Dr. Pop was very formal at first and seemed to be reciting from a script (I noticed this especially when I tried to ask a question "out of order") However, after a few minutes he seemed to relax and show his humor. He was informative and helpful. He told us about the risks of surgery and what life would be like afterward. It seemed that he was almost trying to discourage the surgery, which made me feel like he cared as much about my mental well-being as my physical well-being. He suggested that I go to a support group meeting before I made a final decision. I really appreciated his honesty and frankness.
My first impression of Dr. Pop was he seemed to be sincere. He asked me why I want this surgery. My responce alerted him to have me think it over more. Circumstanses in my life at that time where not good. He felt as if I needed to come to this decision with a clearer head. He was right! I thank him for that advise. I liked his honesty and that he is not just in it for the money. He truly cares. He is upfront and to the point with a dry sense of humor. This is a treatment center that Dr P is affiliated with so there is much emphasize on aftercare. The clinic itself has a wonderful aftercare plan. The risks where clearly identified by Dr P. He gave my husband good advise about the aftercare just after surgery. Walk, Walk, Walk!!! Before and after surgery...
I will let you know how his bedside manner is after the surgery.
He was rough in the begining and I was having second thoughts about him, but I contacted a friend of mine and while talking to her I fond out that DR Poplawski did her surgery. He was very well informed and let me know everything I needed to know. My mother went with me and she want through this is Yiplani with another Doctor and she liked Dr Poplawski alot better he had drawed a picture showing actually what was going to be happening. I just got approved through my insurance after being on them for 3 months. Now I am just waiting for them to call me for a appointment to start everything. I want to have it around June so that I can be home with my kids for the summer.
Dr. Poplawski seems to be extremely competent. He explained the surgery very well. The office staff was very kind and efficient. Dr. Poplawski moved during my year-long wait to have this surgery. This made my trip to see him a little longer but a little more scenic. He moved from Ypsilanti, Michigan to the Holland, Michigan area. I'm not a surgeon or doctor or even a nurse so don't know anything about what kind of doctor he is as far as skills but from what I've heard, he's one of the best. Now that surgery is over, I can safely say, I would trust him with my life. Surgical competence and bedside manner are both exceptional.
