Went and seen Dr. Poplawski in Oct 2002, he was very nice and informative. He included my husband in on everthing that is going to take place and how he has and important role as my caregiver. He explained the procedure in detail, never acting like he was in a hurry. My surg date is 02/17/03, looking forward to getting on the lighter side.
Steven Poplawski, was a very informative surgeon, I felt very confident going into surgery. The after care was wonderful I had a slight complication 2 weeks after surgery, but Dr. Poplawski, gave me very good after care and follow up visits. He is a very complete doctor he was not just interested in getting me to lose weight, but also concerned with why I got this way in the first place, and always reminds me to remember how I got this way, and how I want to eat and feel in the future. His overall rating does not have a high enough scale...I realize that an all positive review is suspicous looking but I have nothing but the utmost espect and admiration for the man who helped me through this difficult journey.
The Doctor was very straight foward in every detail about the surgery and what to expect.
The office staff is wonderful, they never made me feel bad for calling and checking the progress of my approval or with any questions I had. The overall aftercare program was OK, I ran into some complications after the surgery and my regular Doctor took over and Dr. P did not have any thing to do with my care and still does not, I ended up with Blood clots on my lung and am now B12 deficient, so I see my regular Doctor for all of that. I did follow the diet to a T, the book they give you at the Hospital before you leave is a
GREAT tool to use, follow it!! I think the Surgical competence is the most important, the complications I ran into at first were my own fault because I did not excerise, I just laid at home thinking this hurts I can't walk today. and guess what I ended up in ICU for a week, so make sure you walk!!
he was serious about what he was doing, seemed very compatent and compasionate, very straight forward. I could tell he really cared for his patients. The staff were friendly, nice, helpfull and efficient. There was nothing i didn't like about him. If you are considering him i think that he gets a great deal of satisfaction from helping us. He was real thorough with the aftercare program. he explained everthing in great detail, answered all my questions. from 1 to 10 i would give him a 10. he had excellent bed side manner and competence. this is my own personal experience and impressions and don't know how other people feel but he was the best for me.
VERY PROFESSIONAL. HE IS WITH BTC. I HAVE ONLY SEEN HIM ONCE BUT THE COORDINATER OF PRE-ADMISSION CALLS ME ALL THE TIME. SHE IS JUST "WONDERFUL" HER NAME IS GAIL AND SHE HAS SUCH A LOVELY DEMEANER ABOUT HER. SHE MAKES ME FEEL AS THOUGH I AM IN VERY GOOD HANDS. THE OFFICE STAFF ARE GREAT,TRY TO GIVE ME ALL THE ANSWERES I NEED. ALL I CAN SAY ABOUT BTC IS THEY ARE TRYING VERY HARD TO GET ME TO WHERE I WANT TO BE. I'LL HAVE TO LET YOU KNOW ABOUT AFTER CARE AT A LATER DATE.
I haven't seen Dr. Poplawski since July, and even then, it was only for 20 minutes or so. But I did like and trust him. He was very frank. And he took time to explain to my husband that he might have some conflicted feelings as I start to lose weight, and that it's okay. He assured my husband that I wasn't going to leave him just because I was thinner! I like that he took the time, because as it turns out, that was a concern of my husband's! Go figure.
The staff at BTC was very nice. Again, my experience so far is limited, but pleasant.
I met him on my first visit to Bariatric Treatment Center. I liked him. Very experienced. I was surprised that he wanted me to see a cardiologist, a pulmonary specialist, complete a sleep apnea study and also a psychological (BCBS requires this). That was 29 July 2002. Surgery scheduled for 07 November 2002. I had all of the reports sent to my primary care physician who forwarded the results to Bariatric Center. Dr. Poplawski would not approve me for surgery until all tests were completed and reports received. I had to jump through hoops but I feel that my surgery is low risk because he made sure my heart and lungs were in great shape for surgery.
I thought he was very informative and I immediately felt comfortable with him. The office staff seems a little overwhelmed by the volume of people trying to get WLS. What I like least is how busy he and his office is. I came out of surgery with few complications and I think they didn't have as much time to answer my questions post op. I think he is a very gifted surgeon and is good at what he does. I kind of feel lost with aftercare. The staff did not call me at home to check on my after surgery. I had to call them with questions. He did address the risks of surgery. I would rate him a 8 on a scale of 1-10. He seemed very competent.
dr. poplawski was very professional and informative. he explained and used the board to inform me. so far i've only seen him once, but i liked him. the ofice staff was very thorough & nice.i beleive he's a good doctor. he knows his job! he told me the risks of surgery, especially with my health.i would rate him excellent but i'll know more after surgery. of course,i think both competence & bedside manner is important.
Dr. Poplawski was professional and courteous for my consultation. He stressed alot on the psychological aspect of being overweight, the whys and what you were going to do to fill the void of eating after surgery. He answered a mile long list of questions and did not seemed bothered by how long the consult was taking. It seemed a little rehearsed but came across okay.
