Dr. Pop as his nurses affectionately call him was great. I was very impressed with his attentivness to what I had to say, how he took time to expalin any questions I had. He was very straight forward and made me feel very confident in him. His track record is the best. Cindy Elder in his office has been an absolute sweetheart in dealing with me. She has been very patient and helpful. I know I am in for a lot of major changes, but I feel sure things will go as smooth as possible.
i thought he was great...stern but that is what i need and he is very concern about his patients!! i will update after my surgery..i am sure i will like him still!!
well it is post op and i still like him...he was great ..made sure i was totally ready..i told him "lets get the show on the road"....and his partners were just as nice...
I met Dr. P. once...he seemed capable & confident...I was wondering if he were a Christian...this is important to me now and didn't ask him about that when I talked to him in Sept of '02.
Since I met him I found out my 12 yr. old son had cancer...everything took the back burner but now my son is doing OK with his chemo and everything...so my operation is now back in my focus.
Dr Poplawski to me was a very good surgeon.
He explained every detail of the surgery.
His office staff is pretty nice.
And the time spent at the hospital I was very well cared for and the nursing staff was great. (North Ottawa in Grand Haven, MI)
The Dietician has already called me serveral times to check on my progess my surgery was on 1/19/03
He is a very skillful surgeon with over 1,000 gastric bypass surgeries performed. I would recommend him to anyone. He is a little flakey at times, he assumes there is a disorder that made you overweight ie: sexual abuse, eating disorder, obbessive compulsive disorder, and in my case it was a combination of genetics (a large part), eating fastfood like normal people, and snacking at night with jumk food. Besides that he is generally a good doctor and is more than willing to answer any questions.
Loved him dearly and he saved my life and the life of my sister. We had him while he was still in Ypsilanti, MI, and we wish he still was!! Our father loved him too because he was Polish like us!!! LOL We miss him dearly and we miss our little "Kielbasa" joke on where to find the BEST Kielbasa in Michigan!!!!! Love you Dr Pop!!!!!
Doctor Poplawski was very professional in his consultation and didn't seem to try and sell me on his services. Seemed to want to make sure it was a good fit for me. I am very please with Bariatric Treatment Center the Group he works for. My hospital stay in Ypsilanti Michigan was tremendous. Too bad all hospitals aren't like that.
The only negetive comment I would have is that for some reason, Dr. Poplawski did not go down to talk to my husband when I was taken to recovery. This worried and angered him. I don't know why this was, but plan to let him know at my 2 week follow up.
My first impression of Dr. Pop was that he was much younger that I had thought. He is in, I would say his late 30's early 40's. He must be older than that considering he did liver transplants prior to WLS and he has done WLS for 10 years. He has a dry sense of humor, but he is very thorough when it comes to explaining the surgery. He covered all of my questions I had written down before I even had a chance to ask them. He is very strict about having a support system and someone at the hospital with you. He even told me that if it was his wife he would not leave her side. I liked that. I feel very comfortable with him. I know several people who have gone to him and with excellent results. He has NEVER had a leak or a fatality due to surgery. This reassures me. I didn't like how he wouldn't let me ask a question while he was talking. He kept saying, "I'll get to that". And of course he did.
